a native of t jscott and c weddttll dunflfce scotland ani was 42 years w erln township age he was unmai ted his illness was only of a few days duration he was a veteran of the great war a member of the masonic order and a very d irahly citizen xtm funeral took place on tuesday afternoon from the residence of hut brother alex mitchell telgnmouth ave to ronto interment as in the veter ans plot prospect cemetrry joseph j kelly one of owen sounds best known business men joseph jaricson kelly passed away after an illness of two months mr keuy was head of the firm of kelly and aiken of owen sound orangevule and gueiph mr kelly had an active life and although jn his 75th year he was as keen and energetic worker as ever he was born in orangevule a son of the late james kelly one of th pioneers of the district he spent all his life in orangevule with the exception of a few years in w tar ton until 10 years ago when he moved to owen sound mr kelly was unmarried surviving are two sisters miss jennie kelly who resided with him in owen sound and mrs a m tyson wtarton also one brother w w kelly toronto r erin at the nomination meeting for the village on monday evening major justice and james blnnle were nom inated for the reeveshlp mr b withdrew thus major justice is reeve for 1931 for councillors james blrf- nle w r bingham d 8 leltch d i mundell and joseph benham the new years day jan 1st deceased was a son of the late walter and isabel mc kay and was born in georgetown 59 years ago he lived his entire lllc in georgetown where he conducted a grocery store for many years before he retired in 1914 twentyseven years ago he married miss minnie buck who survives him a brother mr hugh mckay of acton and a sister miss annie mckay of van couver bc also survive he was a member of knox presbyterian church and in politics a liberal deceased was a great lover of nature and spent much time in the study of birds plants and flowers he was a good neighbor a true friend and a gentle man who will not only be missed in his own home but throughout the town ind community the funeral took place on saturday afternoon to greenwood cemetery the service be ing conducted by rev mr mrs wm stringer of toronto spent new years with terra cotta friends miss m mccauley is home from ouelph hospital we sincerely nope soon to hear of her recovery our community was shocked to hear of the sudden death of mrs emma stringer who passed away very suddenly on tuesday afternoon dec 30th deceased had only been sick about two weeks she leavcs to mourn htr oss three sorts gordon william h and george deceased was in her 6th year and was a highly respected resident of uila place her husband predeceased her some years ago the funeral wluch was largely attended took place from the residence of tier brother mr edward towrnend on thursday afternoon the service was condunled by the rev mr mcdonald of noryal mrs f c thompson saqg very appropriate solo there were numerous floral wreath from the a week or so ago of the serious illness of his mother who resided in napanee he and mrs shorey left immediately mrs shorey sr never rallied from the paralytic stroke she had suffered and passed away
