for the past two years william james roney passed away at ouelph general hos pital on wednesday march 4th de ceased was tn his 79th year and was born in montreal his parents being natives of ireland he spent his boy hood days in garafraxa going from there to northern ontario where he resided for is years he then moved toronto where he remained m years ago when be moved fit georgetown he is survived by his widow whose maiden name was may wright one daughter mrs oordwell of cobalt and four sons j d of detroit f j of acton w j and a c of georgetown two brothers al so survive robert of winnipeg and joseph of washington since coming to georgetown deceased conducted a s boot and shoe business and was well kno throughout this disi trtct he was a kind husband and father an honorable man and a good friend and neighbor the funeral took place from his late home on satur day afternoon the service being con ducted by rev mr rumley assisted by rev mr caldwell the pallhearers were a and s roney of orangeville w and o langdon of fergus mr mockford of ouelph and mr rhodes of gait there were many beautiful floral tributes from relatives and friends and different organisations among the visitors at the march meeting of the oeorgetown womens institute held on wednesday last at the home of mrs geo tjavis queen st the president mrs clarence hayes was in the chair after open ing hi the usual m with the singing of the opening ode and the repetition of the institute prayer the minutes of the previous meeting were read by mrs harold cleave in the absence of the secretary various items ot business arising out of the minutes were discussed mrs geo ford made a contribution of ft to the cemetery oate fund this amount being the proceeds from a euchre party held at her home since the previous meeting it was announced that the annual halton county executive meeting is to be held tn milton march 30th mrs geo campbell was appointed representative from the womens institute to attend a meeting of the public school board mar nth this representation at the request of the lions club a series of sewing meetings was planned at which childrens garments to be used for local relief work will be made up several members volun teered to make gaiments in their own homes final details were left in the hands of the local needs com mittee of which mrs geo campbell is convenor a committee composed of mrs har old cleave mrs root rxrwfas and mrs d livingstone was appointed to arrange for an old time dance in april the business part of the meeting being thus disposed of then follow ed the
