usual high standards of progressand proficiency are ftell maintained the return of miss bain to her position after her leave of absence last term on accouni of illness is gratifying there are no changes in the personnel of the staff the enrollment of the school is 351 an increase of 14 this term no changes or improvements have been necessary in the accommodation this report to you marks the com pletion of twenty years of service in the supervision of your school and suggests a retrospective glance over this period it also brings the temp tation to review some of the develop ments in those years to our educa tional ideals and aims in successtvi years however i have attempted to present what i have con to be the progressive needs of the school both as to contents of curriculum em phases in instruction claims of man ual as well as mental tramfjam neslth service to pupils and the provision of adequate equipment so shall refrain from futrher comment in these direc- tioiu i and that twenty years ago the staff of your school was com of six teachers with an enrollment of 206 mr a g green now principal of the east burlington school principal and my first impression of his outstanding ability has been justi fied through the years i find that i had occasion to remark especially the fine spirit of harmony prevailing among the staff a feature which has characterized this school through the intervening period tnere is also reference in my orat report to toe i of music under mr castell an evidence of the set thai george town was the pioneer in halton in introducing this cultural subject which is now so popular in the whole coun ty a surprise to myself in this first report is a reference to the absence of a library in the school immedi ate steps were taken to remedy this defect and at present the excellent library which has been built up in this school and is still being carefully added to by miss ryan is second to none tn any school of the same stse anywhere it was in the first of my as inspector hat you found it impera tive to ask the ratepayers for the provision of additional accommoda tion which was readily granted 1 need not recount the story of ad vancement since that time suc cessive boards have been steadily a- llve to the needs of tbe school and i have to express again my appracla- uon of the way in which they have met the schools demands the pro vision made at that time twenty years ago has given the school an audi torium and platform stage which probably is not equalled rn any town of the sise in the province in conclusion i may refer to the new scheme of admission to high schools as introduced by the entrance boards this year and report that it worked very satisfactorily as usual the pupils of your school made an excellent record again r tne greatest honour upon themselves and their principal miss ryan who has a long series of such s to her credit the scheme is being continu ed for the current school year faithfully yours j m denyes correstondence the following letter has been re ceived by dr watson from a great war veteran former resident of georgetown who had not been located at time watches were presented to re turned men and had not received his until just recently hespeler dec 14 1932 dr frank watson georgetown ontario dear sir this will acknowledge receipt of watch handed to me by miss f qruet- zner of tfy tram yon this beau tiful watch being a token from the people of good old georgetown to members of overseas service enlisting from your town to say i prise this watch is certainly putting it mild it will be apparent to you and those who were instrumental in obtaining same for us boys that the sentiments back of the gift is the greater treasure as such i accept it and to cherish with pride having been co worthy of this splendid expression from the georgetown people it was utter neglect on my part in failing to appear and claim this watch in 1920 however if my memory serves me correct i was under the impres sion the watches were for the george town boys alone as i was working there and my home elsewhere i could never believe that a watch or any thing was waning my claiming it in making an apology tor my apparent neglect i might ask your usual kind ly consideration in my case knowing full well the topsyturvy state of mind we boys were in hi those early post war days in my particular case i was indeed a struggle to become settled into my former peace tim oo- cupation trusting you will sooept and extend to the people concerned my thanks for this expression of thelr
