may congratulate ouraetvbs this section of the country that the winter is slipping away so nicely and we have not bad more than a couple of real stormy days so far while other sections north and bast oil us report two or three feet of snow we have had little more than light flurries since our big fall of 20 inches at the beginning of the winter there has been much cloudy weather most of the time last week but on sunday and monday we enjoyed two whole days of full sunshine to remind us that spring is coming following are the record of temper ature and precipitation for the past week date h and a heaung jack armstrong barber floral co put a question to us last week that may be of interest to many others who may have been re sponsible for keeping the fires going this winter la it our new automatic stoker or the weather that has caused us to use on the average a half ton more coal a day this winter than last here is what our investigation of the problem found out last winter the average temperature for december was 30 8 degrees and for january 135 degrees making an average of 22 15 for the two months this winter the average for december was 25 4 and for january it 4 making for the two months an average of 21 40 that means this winter has been colder than last by 75 of a degree for the 62 days in december and january but here is another factor of even more importance which enters into the problem of heating a glass bouse and that is the amount of sunshine for when the clouds withdraw and give old sol a chance to get at it the au tomatic stoker just quits and lets him do it although we have not published our records on sunshine we keep them all the same and find there were about winter than last and five less days of full sunshine when old sol could get in his work at the stoking so that is why the coal bill has been heavier this year than last boaxywoods song- and danck talent garnered in strike up tbe band mickey rooney judy garland june predsser and
