garden party was held on mon day night on the lawn of mr a o patterson sllverereek service station in connection with the anniversary of limehouse presbyterian church rev h l bennle of knox pres byterian church acton was chairman for the evening and introduced capt the rev r c creelman bd chap lain of the toronto irish regiment who delivered a short address mr creelman recalled his preach ing at umehoqse in 1930 while still a student at knox college and spoke of the fine history of the church which extends back over eighty years it is worthy of note he said that the men leading the democratic nations today are men of great rell ous convictions it is your duty a young people to keep your church go ing and i hope that many of you will be on hand eighty years from now to attend such a gathering as this over 1000 churches have been des troyed in england in this war many of which have stood much longer than the eighty years that this building has stood lets keep it standing he urged by supporting the war effort to the utmost of our ability entertainment for the evening was provided by tom hamilton and his troope of entertainers among these was rex slocum who has made fre quent appearances in this district as magician in addition to this he revealed himself as a rival to edgar bergen with an uproarious ventrilo quist act nellie mcohle violinist violet murray singer and jack ayre pianist were the other entertainers tcm hamilton had his usual quota of comic songs and once more proved popular with the attendants at the garden party mrs andrew scott died in 90th year following an illness of some four yirs barbara marshall daughter of the late wm and mary marshall and widow of the late andrew scott passed peacefully away on monday june 9th in her 90th year at the home of her daughter mrs w o brownrldge born in carnforth england on sep tember 28th 1s51 mrs scott came to limehouse when six years of age and had resided in this district all her life in june 1868 she was married to the late andrew scott who predeceased her 24 years ago three children remain to mourn the loss of a devoted mother mary mrs a laweon r r 5 milton em mrs w o brownrldge r r georgetown and rae on the home place also two brothers thomas m acton and stephen of asbbury park new jersey and three grandchildren and ave greatgzandcfaildren remain and to all these the sincere sympathy of many friends is extended in their bereavement one son william pass ed away three and one half years ago arid james agnes and john died in infancy the funeral on thursday afternoon at the after lengthy illness following a lengthy illness mrs joseph logan a well known citizen of georgetown passed away at her home on victoria street on friday june 6th 1941 born on the fifth line ohinguacousy township the late mrs logan whose- malden name was margaret rutledge was the second oldest daughter of the late mr and mrs henry rutledge she was the last surviving- member of their family her sister mrs w c kennedy having predeceased her in december 1940 surviving are three of her child ran margaret mrs h l blodgett waubaushene edward and robert of georgetown four grandbhudren
