methodists in laso and ism it was lo be known as union church with each dnomlnatlon holding its separate service at a decided urn the presbyterian having first oholcr if any other evangelical denomination wished to bold a uma they were at liberty to do so provided u did dot interfere with those time chosen by the three tint mentioned in the pres ence of jamee lindsay and tbomss b prater as in ims were increased to alz men a deputation from georgetown attended a meeting in union church llmehouse march 10 144 for the purpose of calling a minister gght suported the motion and four voted against it william simpson a student was to be applied for for six months and in the meantime try to get a minister rev r ewtng is the first regular mpt mentioned in the nf book in 1071 jamee lindsay is the first mentioned treasurer and remained in office until january 1v71 when nlnlan lindsay was appointed- later john lindsay served 24 years as treasurer a collector was appointed annual ly until 1970 when a motion passed leaving the young people responsible for the collecting and raising or money for stiheffies of the church the fol lowing year thirty copies of the pres byterian record were purchased for the first time so the young people must have ueen successful in iim the envelope system was adopted but drop ped after two years it was again used in 1008 and following years the minute of the la03 and 1903 annual meetings give more information than those previous in 1003 the report of session read number on com munion roll 74 added during year 4 withdrawn during year 3 no deaths 3 baptisms georgetown congregation asked for morning services throughout the year and llmehouse decided at this meeting to grant same provided that oeorgetown pay twothirds of ministers salary and llmehouse one- third in 1803 there were thlrtyslx families connected with this congregation a tea meeting was suggested as a means of clearing up the organ fund this is the first year that annual report of wa and wats and sabbath school were mentioned the managers were in structed to insure the church property a soon as possible there was some interest in music prior to 1000 as five music books were purchased in imo and additional ones obtained for the choir in ibs in these earlier days no womens names appear but about 1000 the of ficers of the womens organtnulon read their own reports at the annual meeting and soon were voicing their opinions in other matters of business m 1014 a committee was appointed to investigate and report regarding the church removal in 1015 they were dis oompooed of mayor joseph olbbons and harold c mc- clure attended the monthly meeting of ilsllcn county council in milton yesterday afternoon to request a grant for the lome beets band in previous years oeorgetown council has granted money to the organisation but this year a new regutaton from the dept of municipal alfalrs denying town councils the right to do so precluded this an effort by the town council to get around this was made when they passed a resolution hiring the band for a series of twelve public concerts st s35 00 a concert this did not meet the approval of the department and had to be rescinded so council offered to send a delegation to the county to see what they could do after aome consideration the council agreed to supply a 130000 grant as they are empowered to do so under the act another deputation from the county red cross included president le roy dale of oeorgetown they were granted 1300 00 to be split up among the various districts representatives from milton acton and oeorgetown pair boards were prerent to ask icr grants and presi dent herb cleave and secretary prank petch represented oeorgetown grants or tloooo ftrre given to georgetown and acton and
