delegates on arriving at port credit were made welcome by the pre sent zone commander and members of post 88 canadian legion after a short stay in the club rooms of port credit legion renewing ac- georgetown branch was complimented by the zone comander for the step taken in having their questionnaire printed and malted to the members of the armed forces col oousens as past zone com mander occupied a seat with the past officers and when called upon explain ed the purpose of the steps taken by the georgetown branch to see that the proper care would be given to our boys on their return to george town honorary president e l fleck al though only a guest at the meeting as called upon by zone commander drew to say a few words mr fleck explained the attitude to be taken by the industrialists in helping to rees tablish the men in uniform and ex plained to all present that at all times he took a deep interest in the affairs of the canadian legion and that he was willing to carry on and continue to work in the interest of the legion he strongly urged the meeting to see that a committee be formed to look after the welfare of the return men in civil life comrade president harold stalfordi of branch 120 voiced his disapproval in no uncertain terms at what is being done for our present men returning regarding employment his statement carried so much weight and his de termination so explicit that he was asked by the zona commander to re tire and draft up a resolution to that effect and when brought before the meeting and read was unanimously approved by the delegates before the meeting was brought to a close comrade w anderson of the milton branch spoke on behalf of the delegates complimented zone comman der drew on his appolntement and stated that all the members of zone wanted him to know that all will sup port him 100 per cent on all legion affairs replying com drew thanked the delegates for the honour and trust given him and stated that with the help of all comrades he would try to be worthy of ttwt trust president jack holmes of the port credit branch attended part of the meeting as he explained he had to work until 4 pm he took over the chair and after the usual procedure declared the meeting closed with all singing the national anthem a delightful lunch was served by the members of port credit and after an hour spent in the club rebekah marathon euchre the rebekah marathon euchre came to a successful conclusion last thurs day evening when the fifth euchre held primarily for the presentation of prizes for the fourweek marathon euchre was held in the arena twenty five tables played and the winners for thursday evenings play were mrs p fendley high mrs e b tyers second mr harry savings third mis lyla francis and mr vic king tied for fourth and fifth as a result of the cut mr king won 4th prize and miss francis the fifth the hamper of groceries was drawn for and mr sam tennant was the lucky winner holding ticket number s3
