charles partem occupied the chair the meeting was hold in the large hall and the opening ceremony used was that of the canadian legion the regular- routine of business was carded out for a short while and on the arri val of officers of the provincial com mand on a motion of comrade alex taylor the meeting was adjourned to allow the representatives of toronto to be heard chairman chas partem then intro duced comrade bluy burke and jack wager of toronto comrade f wright of acton comrade robertson and comrade jack chapman president of the acton branch of the legion chairman partem on behalf of the imperial section congratulated com rade ec t shepherd m b e for the honour he recently received in the kings honour list he congratulated those in attendance at the meeting and stated that it was very gratifying to see such a turn out which proved the cooperation that existed between the canadian ijeglon and imperial sec tion of this branch he then caned upon comrade burke of the provincial command to say a jew words comrade burke in his opening re marks said that the large gathering on a sunday afternoon distinctly showed that wonderful cooperation existed betowen the legion and the imperial section and could substantiate the statement made by the chairman that harmony surely existed here he stated that in other localities the lack of cooperation existed but that he would hke it to be known that the imperial sections of any branch has been the backbone of almost every legion branch for a number of years we are not slackers stated comrade burke and we are still showing the proper interest in our counrty of adop tion and although our difficulties lie with the british government our only solution is to keep banded together carry on as in the past and overlook any disappointments the canadian legion is of great help to the imperials and this calls for unity amongst ourselves after the war stat ed comrade burke a great influx of imperials will come into canada and greater strength among imperial sec tions in au branches will be witnessed and it is very essential that all mem- the past few months 12 new branches were installed he stated that it has always been a pleasure to attend any meeting of legion or imperial sections and pass on what ever information available or enlighten members of both groups with any sub ject to their particular interest both organizations had done wonderful work in alhviaung the buttering of the un fortunate families in the war zones and mentioned that since the outbreak of war the sum of 300000 had been sub scribed to regarding pensions and assistance to the return comrades and gave a lengthy explanation of all branches of his department as this speaker dealt with exclusive legion and imperial matters we are not at he expresed pleasure at being present with his comrades and fc the imperial section for the invitation and stated that he would take back to ac ton valuable information gained here and that it wouldbe passed on to his home branch he extented an invita tion to all present to attend dedica tion day ceremony to the held at the acton cemetery next sunday after noon past zone secretary comrade wright of
