attending and 13 quilt blocks handed in in answe to roll call the meet ing opened in the usual way by all repeating the lords prayer in unison reading the correspondence a letter from sgt james wallace gave thanks for cigarettes and chocolates and one from fit officer reg fin ney for parcel and cigarettes sent in february mr stan robinson and mr w kennedy were chosen as clerks for the stle a quilt pieced by mrs d tal bot was to be put up for auction dances were discussed for a few min utes and ckcr cowboys are to be contacted for an engagement mrs alf allen read a poem entitled a parcel from home that showed the boys appreciation of a parcel when received and their disappoint ment when none arrives for them the ladles are to consider at the inext meeting the forming of an in stitute branch after the war other plans were made for the auction sale at brookvllle hall and quilts arranged tor quillings after singing ood save the king the ladles did justice to a lovely lunch served in the kitchen mrs lawrence king motioned a vote of thanks to mrs miller for the use of her home and friendly hospitality sale and euchre the club held an auction sale and progressive euchre in brookvllle hall on october 4th also a draw on a chicken donated by mrs w kennedy which netted 10 64 euchre proceeds were 7 90 and 60 17 was counted from sale of articles the following donations for sale were received mrs alf allen 1 00 and one war savings stamp mrs chris frank 3 00 and mrs walter freeman 1 00 8 86 was taken in from sale of pie cake hot dogs coffee and pop in the booth dance sponsored by the club hallow eri night was unsuccessful overseas boxes eleven boxes for christmas for boys overseas were packed by the club and sent on their way a package of 300 cigarettes are sent each boy twice one month and once the next twentyfive dollars was donated to acton vicinity war service league for packing their boxes a donation 95 00 by mrs george finney to the club was very much appreciated the following members held quilt ing for the club during the month mrs joseph frank two mrs jennie howard one mrs j j kennedy two ward brownkinge amd sam hakrop top caxf club last spring thirtyfour club mem bers 12 to 30 years of age enrolled in the milton holstein calf club and the halwn jersey and guernsey calf club these clubs were sponsored by the halton agricultural society in cbxxffauon with the federal and ontario departments of agriculture the halton holstein and jersey clubs and the ontario ouernsey club the final awards which were recently an nounced by agricultural representa tive j e whltelock show ward brownridge of georgetown to be the high club member in the holstein club and sam hnrrop the top club member in the jersey and guernsey club these awards are
