looks good for play offs which start on tbaraday night norvalgeorgetown combines eked out thedr first win of the season over victory aircraft malton when with a much bolstered team they whipped the visitors 3 to 2 in the last scheduled league game in previous contests fee malton team had shown a rather superiority and it was encouraging to local fans to see the combines come through with a win the team has beep strengthened to a point where they are now on a par with the lea gue leaders the game on monday night was one of the best seen in the arena for some time the game was fast as night he expected when these two teams meet there was plenty of ex citement too as the malton team seem i ed prone to take a beating and high ticks and rough play with the com bines retaliating kept referee johnny jones busy for almost the entire se cond and third periods at times the teams were playing with only four men a side including the goalkeepers ms the referee endeavoured to keep down the rough tactics by the penalis ing method one malton player was penalised for five minutes when he was about to give the referee an ar gument the teams had to anally go into overtime before the score was settled 432 the combines went out early in the game to get their first counter and managed to hold the lead until the end of the period both teams were playing a wide open brand of hockey and this gave the crowd something to cheer about early in the second period malton took the initiative and evened the count and went ahead with two goals by casburn in their en deavour to hold the lead some rough stuff was injected into the game and they soon found themselves lining the penalty bench the combines continued their fast hockey into the third period and it was not long until the game was again tied up and o ertime play necessitated continuing to press the visitors hard in the overtime the combines won out in the finish and looked like looming aggregation to go into the playoffs a two outthree game series will comprise the playoff with the first came tomorrow night and the second scheduled for monday the 10th georgetown goal richardson de fence self and schertzl centre n jrvrri
