british war brides in the persons of mrs jack crawford aftd mrs bernard poole the latter with her two english bjurn canadian children coming to a community whictra essentially british by birth and out look these two young ladies will soon lose that first feeling of homesickness which we know is bound to take places once the thrill of new sights has dulled and we know they will find georgetown and glen williams folk eager to be friendly and helpful in making them feel at home in the months to come there will be several more young war brides coming to this district to join hus bands already home or to wait for those still in uniform on the other side of the water lets all do our best to make their first impression of their new home a pleas ant one by extending the hand of friendship to these new citizens the news we uke to write it has not been a pleasant task these past five years to record the casualties of european battle to tell of the death or serious injury of so many of our fine young men who have laid- down their lives for us in foreign lands now it is a much different kmd of news story which we can tell as those who have been spared to live out their lives in peace come home to georgtown last week was a particularly happy one when we wel corned norm mcdonald and johnny wilson both lib erated from german prison camps lloyd grace joe emmeraon harry allen and gord lane the bare facts about their return and army service hide between the lines the happy family reunions which occurred the thankfulness of walking on home soil and breathing the good georgetown air whih each one of these men must be experiencing its the kind of news we like to write and the story that we will be able to tell of every one of our men before victory year comes to an end vote as you uke but vote next monday june 4th is the day on which ontario voters go to the polls to decide what political group will guide the provincial destiny for the next li- our democratic privilege that each and every qualified citizen has the right to mark a ballot for the candidate of his choice in secrecy and safety it is more than a privilege it is a duty that every voter should exercise his franchise for how else can our province be assured that its elected members of parliament are truly representative of the political beliefs of their constituencies it is not our duty as a non partisan publication to advise our readers how they should vote that is for each to make up his own mind on the basis of the proposals advanced by the parties and candidates them selves we do consider it our duty howtver to urge every voter to vote ind to x rcise tbe franchise of which so many of the world s citizens have been depriv ed these last few years georgetown his a record sic ond to none in war
