shipper extensive damage caused by fire at b a station pire believed to be started by defec tive wiring gutted the b a service station on the highway early mon day evening the service station op erated by harry graham was badly damaged inside and mr graham lost goods and equipment valued at 1400 the loss is partially covered by in surance the fire was first noted by a group of girls who told ltd at time of enlist- nt sgt varey following his brother pte morley varey home by a week sgt russell varey was among a group of george town men who docked at new york last friday aboard the queen elisa beth and is vudlng in town with his uncle and aunt mr and mrs h m held he is one of three brothers in uniform his other brother sgt elgle varey being home on six months leave from newfoundland where he was stationed with the dental corp russell joined the army in june 140 and went overseas in july 1041 with the 13th field regiment roa he was with the assault force which help ed to win dundee uand who came to canada last may and has been making her home n the glen with his parents cpl gear hayes to the lorne scots regiment after nearly four years overseas cpl h g hayes arrived in toronto on thursday nov 29th having made the crossing on the empress of scot land he enlisted with the lome scots in april 1941 and went overseas in june of the same year he has seen service with them in italy france belgium holland and qermany cpl hayes married the former janet jes sie morrison of blanefield scotland last may and hopes they will be re united here sometime before next march srmn george sargent returning on the queen elizabeth was sgmn oeorge sargent last of three sons of mr and mrs cbiris sar gent to come home after service over seas george enlisted in march 1943 and was on the staff of no 2 district depot in toronto for nintti months before taking his signals course at vimy barracks kingston he went overseas in october 1943 and went to prance after d day serving since then in belgium holland and ger many employed at the provincial paper mill at time of enlistment he is married to the former enid garvin and they have two children douglas arxl donald the latter born since his dad went overseas af in england and india lac john hunter returned home on the queen elisabeth last week end enlisting in april 1042 he trained in toronto st thomas and bagotvllle que before
