ladys section was addressed by mrs alex mcklnney of brampton district director of the ontario pair associa tion while the men- discussed further rs in connection with celebrating centennial among the motions passed was one to secure the services of both bands for the fair and to present a life mem bership to mr w a wilson a former ecretary of the society for over 25 years a motion was also passed requiring the exhibitors of hogs to present a cer ttflcate of health from a veterinary furgeon before showing at the fair the prize money for sheep and hogs uas also increased and the secretary re quested to look into the advisability of increasing the prize money for light and heavy horses increases in the various classes should see more and more prize stock ejchibited at george town fair i the usual fair night dance will be held in the arena the ladles have many plans for the centennial which they will put forth during the summer among those will be an antique display a ladies hour kt the fair conducted by a prominent speaker and mrs aiken s name was recreational council discus ses progress to date a meeting of georgetown recrea tional council was held last thursday evening in the is the largest to date with 20 entries the 194 and 194s competilions were sponsored jointly by the halton crop improvement association and the es quesing agricultural society but this years contest is under the sole direc tion of the pair board the competi tion was first organized to ascertain whether husking corn could be grown successfully in halton county as well as in the sunny courties of essex and kent this has been proven very sat isfactorily with the result that more and more farmers are growing this type of corn in halton and more es peclally in esquesing township last vear twelve contestants were in the prize money out of fifteen entries and the average yield was 51 76 bushel to the acre the competition started with 13 en tries in 1944 15 in 1946 and in 1946 20 entries the
