early copy for tile next weeks edition and our selves because it left the weekend fairly free of any really pressing task but then christmas came nlong and with it went our prfclous schedule here wc ore at tbjl typewriter again on monday afternoon december 20th a date more aptly described as the day after the day before havent really regained our ap- petlte after horning on turkey and all tho trlmmins maybe christ mas docs send our digestions and schedules haywlro but its worth it the children are foremost in our thoughts at christmas and their glad spirits and laughter rad iated thousands of homos that happy day it began well too early in the morning when iho eager excited youngsters called out in the early morning darkness unable to wait any longer to know if santa had arrived and fulfilled his promises still groggy with sleep the parents arc caught up in the maelstrom of excitement and the years roll back as they relive the thrill of christmas morning with their children the church services are espec ially beautiful with the glorious christmas music wc never like to miss the midnight communion service at st georges and know there must be a lot of other people who feel that way too bcause the church is always crowded in that brief hour and a half choral service the true meaning of christmas in spires for the week or so pre ceding christmas every day brings warm greetings from friends in the form of christmas cards its especially nice to get one from someone you hod thought might have forgotten all about you each year the cards seems to be come prettier with no two alike thought you might be inter ested to hear about some of the more original cards that came to to carry their holiday greet ings this year dr and mrs hugh templin of the fergus news he- cord chose a large picture of the grand river taken about 50 years i ago it shows the narrows in the famous elora rocks to quote from the card itself dr templin lolls us the picture was one of a series of remarkable photographs tbkcn by the late john r connon historian photogiaphcr and inven tor mr connon believed that ev ery small camera distorted the per spective so he built himself a cam era six feet long using glass plates about 15 by id inches which he prepared himself the results he obtained have probably never been equalled having just moved into their new bungalow on albert street the cecil davidsons took an excel lent photo of it which they hove used on their card as a he that very important g from our new house to your house merry christ mas and miss dorothy stone the commercial artist who built her new home on the check line and about whom wc wrote in the runnier has used a similar idea lor her christmas greetings her house is shown high on a snow- ioveriil hilltop with only a single set of footprints breaking a path in liii- feu cground snow sounded good to mc for i am a trijh northerner however llie fltrlda sun is very beneficial to drpvatsonc health and he u getting his full quota aj ciiiiistmas was saddened for mrs dr r t pnul whose aunt mrs rebecca weber died in a fire which did considerable dnmage to her lovely brick homo at clifford mrs weber and her sister mrs henry helpel jived together awakened by smoke mrs helpel aroused her sister and went to a neighbouring house to call the fire department but upon returning tho intense smoke and heat made it impossible to rescue mrs weber mrs paul had been visiting wlth her aunts just a week before the tragedy took place repeating a christmas present whichher parents appreciated more than any other mrs
