george wallace herrington died suddenly early this morning mr herrington who was to have undergone an op eration on the injured hip today was found dead on the floor be side his bed by a nurse this morn ing mr herrington wais rushed to hospital by his stepson clarence kennedy after the abcident it was the second serious accident in the family in two weeks mr herring- tons grandson 4yearold terry kennedy is being treated in sick childrens hospital for bad burns received when he touched a cable at the hydro substation in his 80th year he was born on march 4th 1872 at smithfeld near brighton ontario a fruit and apple dealer all his life he came to geor getown in 1901 he travelled ex tensively both on business and pleasure and as an apple dealer he did much business with the apple products company in glen wil liams he served two terms as a georgetown councillor several years ago he belonged to the baptist church was a liberal in politics and belonged to the macabbees predeceased in 1925 by his first wife estella baker he is survived by his second wife edith whitmee three sons and a daughter corey of stewarttown orbey and donald of georgetown and grace mrs fred brown of limehouse five children died in infancy he also leaves two stepsons bruce kennedy la rising and clarence kennedy george town 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren one of a family of fourteen two sisters and papennlll road late friday afternoon he was in his 77th year a lifelong resident of the district he was a son of the late samuel allen and catherine campon and was born at norval on january 18 1875 the family moved to glen wil liams when he was a youngster in his early days he worked in various stone quarries in the district at the woollen mill in the glen and for a cooperage firm at huttonvtlle enlisting with the 164th battal ion in the first war he served over seas with his eldest son thomas- after the war h was employ ed at the provincial paper mill in town until his retirement he was an active legionnaire and was one of the best known members of branch 120 always taking a great interest in affairs of the branch his wife elizabeth belgrove died in maiyi 1943 and he was prede ceased by were er ected has completed deals with alj of the seventy tenants for pur chase of their homes decision to offer the houses for sale was announced at a council meeting in august when mr hard ing
