georgetown and acton and a gym addition at milton chairman john bell walter hlehn and dr j b milne represented the school board at the meeting and tolned out live necessity for the new buildings particular haste u needed in inaugurating the program this year mr bell pointed out be cause there is a rumour that the dcpt of lducat ion may cut max i mum expenditure on which thev iniy graifu from j0 000 to ooo per classroom next year mi or armstroiig w as outspoken in expressing his view than the only thing georgetown could do in view of the stubborn attitude of enqueu ing was to relinquish a 3 per cent advantage in school costs in order to expedite building of schools it would be coilly and inefficient lie pointed out to keep operating the present school ond cljssroom in other parts of town and a possible 40o the town might save in the next three years would be offset by these increased costs on which grants arc not paid and by the iosible drop in government grant on a future build ing program all members of council expressed themselves in the same vein some remarking that they didnt like to see- ehqucsing getting the best of it but that under the present cir- curmstancee they could see no al ternative a new 8 inch water main will be installed to take care of smith and stone requirements in the new plant which will be constructed this winter a street light was ordered on
