leads in a sensational robbery in glen williams last week when goods valued at over 4000 were removed from the beaumont knitting mills time of the daring theft has been established as shortly after mid night tuesday when nearby resi dents heard p truck which stopped at the mill for a short time entry was gained by forcing a window and the robbers then opened the door and loaded a large number of work socks into the waiting truck mill owner arthur beaumont says that a total of 900 dozen sox packed in 36 cartons were taken in the rob bery all of them packed ready for shipment the firm is offering 100 reward for information leading to the return of the stolen goods theft insurance was carried by mill investigation of the robbery is under the direction of provincial constable howard georgetown and for most of her life a resident in glen williams and in town mrs alfred watson rtied in st marys on sunday the former agnes ruddy daugh ter of mr and mrs joseph ruddy she was born in detroit michigan and her parents moved to glen williams when she was a child after her husbands death 22 years ago she operated a children cloth- ifig store in part of the gibbens block in partnership with her step daughter the late mrs annie win- field later moving to toronto to live with her daughters there she often visited in town and only this summer spent three months here at the home of mrs c e parker when her daughter mrs h w pearce moved to st marys mrs watson went to that town kith her she was a prominent member of georgetown baptist church during her residence here and always took an active part in ladies groups in the church widely read and a good conversationalist she had a wide circle of friends she is survived by two daugh ters mrs r j w brooke hazel toronto and mrs h w pearce muriel st marys 4 grandchil dren and 5 greatgrandchildren and a stepson dr frank watson of town two stepchildren fred wat son and mrs annie wlnfield pre deceased her one of a large fam ily her only among those taking part in the service with the congregation of st paul s church were members of fie peel deanery local council ot the aypa who were holding a conference at norval over the weekend coronation medals to two lorne scots two local members of the lome scots regiment were highly hon oured after an oikville church par ade on sunday when they w ere presented with the queen s coron ation medal lt col john r eacberqmr manding officer of the regiment and sgt arthur herbert veteran bandsman were completely taken by surprise when an officer from central command made the presen tation before the assembled troops so far as is known they are the only georgetown residents to re ceive the medals which were spec ially struck for presentation to canadians who had rendered dis
