one of georgetowns most prominent citizens william f bradley died in toronto general hospital on sunday morning where he had beena patient for several weeks v his death leaves a void in com munity life which will be hard to fill for at one time or another he had served practically every local organization eiher on the execu tive or with his help behind the scenes particularly will he be mis sed at st georgs s anglican church to which he devoted a lifetime of service he was choirmaster for many years until his retirement last year when 01 soninlaw suc ceeded him aha he remained a faithful choir member after this tune at various times he was a churchwarden nd a lay delegate and at the tune of his death he was a member of the church s committee son of james bradley and isa bella hainer he was born in geor getown where his father farmed on what is now the cedarvale school property he was a clerk in the old bank of hamilton in his youth then after trying his hand at farm ing for awhile ne entered the mail order business in 1922 handling everything from fireless cookers to barbers clippers in 1928 he added a line of novelty seeds which was the nucleus of a business which to day id known the world over and which claims to be the largest sup plier of mail order garden seeds in the country a keen musician he played in the georgetown band in the days when it was led by a b castell in 1908 he was one of the lome rifles cho sen to attend the quebec celebra tion when king george v visited that city he was an honorary president of the lome scots band for the past several years it was mr bradleys custom ev ery year to take a business trip searching the continent for new varieties of seeds to add to his bus iness and he shared his travels with the community for his mov ies and coloured slides were much in demand for showing at meet ings this past summer he toured europe and great britain return ing home in early september his property on mam street south was a garden beauty spot and he enhanced the surroundings a few years ago when he purchased the old barber residence and the coulter home and remodelled them into handsome apartment build ings he was one of the original mem bers of georgetown lions club a member or credit masonic lodge and during the war he served on several victory loan committees but it was to his church that he de voted the great part citi zens representing all branches of community attaint were guests of the fire department ta a ceremony ftt the halt guest speaker e v maccormack who was introduced toy clarence spence spoke of the high regard in which the liremen are held by the community and said that no other group renders as much corn- unity service as volunteer firemen the mayor pointed out what a fine group of men are in the brig ade when he referred to work they had done on tneir own such as painting the concrete floors and supplying a refrigerator for the kit chen and waracn george leslie said that esquesing township was happy to have an arrangement whereby that township supplies a 20 000 fire truck which is manned by georgetown liremen and is av ailable both locally and in esques ing for firefighling work chief william hyde introduced each member of the brigade who wore their dress uniforms for the occasion and the town and town ship councils were introduced by messrs armstrong and leslie fire men jack harlov and andy ritchie introduced the other guests who included representatives of indus try lodges and service clubs after the formal opening lunch was served and those present were taken on a
