school children arc unging with the provin cial chorus under i ho- direction of karlc terry of ixmdun ontario this concert is being given in connection with the teachers convention in toronto and last monday night sylvia iambert daughter of mr ami mrv j l iambert and barbara cromar daughter of mr and mrs william cromar sang with the harvey per- nn choir this choir is composed of 50 young business girls and was the organizations ninth annual con cert they sang concert classics folks songs and contemporary mus ic the choir is open to young busi ness girls in toronto and needless to say the training is both valuable and greatly enjoyed a highlight of the concert was the performance of men j ami n brittens ceremony of carols sylvia is attending toronto teachers college and barbara is teaching school in toronto ths children in the first two grades at our public schools had their first injection of the salk vaccine for polio prevention last wednesday it looks aa tho science is on the right track now to fight this dreaded disease our children are fortunate indeed to have the vaccine at all let alone free of charge to have it given privately is mighty expensive and we are not even sure that he vaccine is avail able for general use yet starting out on a little sunday drive wrtji the family last week we just chanced to catch sight of hev kenneth illchardson and another chap out for a sunday stroll mr richardson introduced us to his friend mr tom morton of quill 1akr saskatchewan and told us what a pleasant surprise he had had wh greeting the parishioners- after morning service at st georges mr morton stepped up to shake hands and had to introduce himself so the two old friends could become reac- quainted it had been ten years since they last saw each other after having been buddies in the same flight crew in the rcaf for a num ber of years mr morton had thor oughly enjoyed hearing his friend preach at the service because of course rev richardson graduated as r- vannatter was the guest speaker for the april thankof- fering meeting of the wms of st johns unitod church on monday ap ril 4th fortunate indeed were the ladies to have her for she was one of the delegates from the pres byterian church to be chosen to attend the world council of church es at evanston illinois in august of ibm the purpose of the coun cil states the general secretary of the council is essentially an instru ment af the services of the church es to sssist them in their com mop task of manifesting the true naturv of the church there were 183 chur ches gathered together in
