a state of apathy towards it this of course in sharp contrast to wartime services when everyone made a point of attending however we think lo a great extend the fault ilea with us loo by not organizing a proper cam paign to recognise the day in a moc general manner so every member ould make a real start towards this by remembering to be on paa4e on that day this year we believe luring observed on sunday november llth in accordance with our policy of ob serving it on the sunday nearest the day lr hope that each and every one of the 400 members will be on parade arrangements rsave dont forget tha regular monthly business meeting is approaching and it is hoped that this will tee a much beter turnout than last months af ter all you ae all members of tha organization surely you can find a little time to attend the meetings and before someone says oh we pay our dues but let the executive take care of the business we hasten to say that is all very well hut dont you think any executive body deserves your at tention and constructive criticism st tunes and any ftuggestion that you may have oh yes and while were on the tubrc4 we might mention tha armistice tickets will be on tale to ad sccordinuly charlie day and his committee are hard at work on the christmas tree and this year will prove to be one of the best ever held we wager the boys have tickets or sale and would appreciate any help that is forthcom ing from members and this years list shows a bumper crop of additions my the branch does grow in tnore ways than onr the date thursday ieceinbcr 22nd we were approached recently by a member who said he got very little for the 4 00 dues he pays a year as we proved lo his utter satisfaction he has been doing remarkably well and we think a repeat of tho argument nnjiht be a kuod thing first of all itranrh 120 doea not hct 4 00 in dues for their own use of that amount 2 80 is sent to prov incial command as per capita tax it therefore obviously leaves 120 for branch use of this you are mailed notices every month and sometimes a special one if there is anything im portant arising during the year we caat say accurately but imagine that 0c to 15c per person would be the approximate cost per person per year of printing and mailing aaid notices so that brings your branch magnifi cent income from your dues down to in the neighbourhood of half a dollar now said complainant has two chil dren at christmas they receive pre sents and we think the presents are fairly good ones then theres is your annual picnic which acta tho branch back about 9100 per member new years eve theres a really nice affair with orchestra food favours prizes and what have you and if you dont think hiring an orchestra on new years eve is an expensive proposition try it sometime on top of he aforementioned affair that members can take advantage of we can think of the corn roast free to all a trip to warriors day for 50c return all children free and no doubt there arc other events that we havent thought of however we think wo can aay as the man says without fear of successful contradiction that the branch does not make a great deal out of that 120 oh so you didnt attend all those affairs task tak every member knew about it through the monthly notice after that its strictly up to you and in closing next year dues are going to 300 by a decision of the dominion convention in toronto in 10m starting in 1050 each member will be sent a copy of the official ma gazine the legionary and each ta compelled to pay for the number on their roll the coat 100 as a reminder of what we men tioned about remebrance day the best reasons for every member being on hand arc called to mind by those immortal words reproduced below tart wiiwd rl lovdand
