all wms groups were encouraging as all had reached their allocation the w a reported a considerable balance on hand the following officers wert elected recording secretary mr r warne treasurer mr f j shortill succeeding mr james kirkwood who has held the office for the past nine teen years organist lillian shor til with mrs f j shortill as assist ant and choir leader james kirkwood was elected chairman of the board of stewards mr d russell was elected to fill the vacancy on the managing board the flower and decorating committee are mrs jesse mcenery mrs f smith mrs j kirkwood and mrs marshall it was decided to hold our anniversary services on the first sunday in may mrs g townsend was hostess for the january meeting of the w a the theme hymn and creed were the op ening exercises with singing psalm 681 mrs perryman led in the wor ship service the theme being kept by the power of god reading the scripture lesson from psalm 12l du ring the business period it was plan ned to hold an afternoon tea in the spring and a committee was appointed to secure an outstanding speaker pro grams for the twelve meetings had been prepared and were given out to the members mrs townsend thank em the group for a christmas hamper that had been given them mrs smith conducted a bible quiz and gave two interesting readings a poem by edna jacques entitled forgive us and some thoughts on new and lights pictures of the dec orations of stores and houses ind their decorations one was a picture of mrs k aitken s houst with the reindeer and sleigh on the roof and the front of the house with the trees decorated with silver balls mrs bob harris had negatives of the pictures of mr and mrs e harris s golden wedding which were shown too mrs j sanford and mrs g cook were the hostesses for lunch we extend sincere sympathy to mrs t hewson and the family in the death of mr hewson after a long and serious illness at his home in george town mary barker had her tonsils remo ved last tuesday at guelph general hospital and is improving nicely vis f j shortill and rosa are recovering from an attack of chicken pox mrs ray swindlehurst is at prcs ent in guelph general hospital where she underwent quite a serious operation monday morning we hope she will soon be much improved in health miss ruth adams is recovering from an ear operation in weston hos pital we hope this results in impro ved hearing for ruth happy birthday to kenneth grant 10 years old saturday january 21st the annual junior w a meeting was held last week at mrs bally s home ineka kocslag chose when mothers of
