mckin lay who lived on queen street in town many years ago mr mckinlay vas d stone cutter by trade and worked in the quarries miss mckinlay had many friends in town with whom she kepi in contact congratulate club members past present and future for they have given the town and district much to be thankful for such things as the downtown drinking fountain bic ycle racks and the bandstand in lions are owed a greater debt of gratitude an example to follow rarely is it that one can speak of a man as being a true follower of his faith and when such a man lives in a community there can be no years casual association tn business dealings with the united church and the bible society but we would hesitate to editorialize on our own had not so many people spoken in similar vein when they heard the news of his sudden death mr godfrey lived by his religion and it showed school well named decision of the school board to name george town s third public school harrison will meet with wide approval tn town for the harrisons are a family whose contribution to education has been considerable the late robert harrison served for several years as principal of what was then georgetowns only are done quietly without publicity for this is the nature of service club work and the lions reward is in know ing that they have provided a brighter future for a young person who might otherwise have been handi capped as citizens the only way we can repay the lions club for their good work is by generous patronage of their public fund raising events and by enhancing their reputation by always speaking favourably about any lions project a service club of this sort is a dec ided asset to a community and deserves every recog in his face and m his beating he did not walk around with a bible in his hand nor spout pious platitudes his religion was more a matter of every day living and he was the type of man who could cheer you up by ust looking at him for he radiated an inner calm and fortitude attained by only a fortunate few the world was better off and georgetown more specifically by the years he spent on earth and it will be a better world in future because of him for who can assess the far reaching effects of kind deeds which pass from one person to another in everincreas ing circles tired a few years ago after valuable service as a mem ber of the teaching staff for over
