officials of the district hu- jnane society at- oakville director ross pearen and shelterkeeper alan mcnab reported on the pro gress of dog control in this area at the may meeting of the north jialton urban board held in geor getown wednesday may 15th the board whteltconipbises rep resentatives irom acton milton and georgetown caned the dele gation when at the last meeting it was pointed out that a number of dogs were still running free in these towns a report on the operations of the- control truck in this area was given by mr mcnab jwho stated that so far this year the truck had travelled some 2000 miles and picked up 61 dogs eleven of these were reclaimed by their owners and all but two of the remaining dogs were destroy ed these two were taken into oakville homes he explained that the truck visited the towns at least twice weekly sometimes in the very early morning and sometimes at night in an effort to pick up the strays he stated that there are only eight complaints on record since the first of the year and that these had been thoroughly looked into by the police he stressed that residents seeing dogs running loose should notify the local police of the street and time so that the next trip will be made to that particular town at that time it was suggested by the board members that the dogs may be coming educated to the fact that they should stay out of sight when the control truck is around an other more likely view was that the dog owners were the ones who were learning an invita tion to inspect the shelter at any time was extended to the members by the director
