entries finished second and third and will play in the provincial finals in toronto on september 28th heart attack proves fatal for brother of mrs jack hepburn mb and mrs jack hepburn of glen williams and family attended the funeral of her brother william thoraherry of ancaster on thurs day august 13th mr thornberry died very suddenly from a heart attack at his home on monday the 12th of august he was fortyse ven years of aage x projectionist in the century theatre hamilton mr and mrs thornberry have lived there for many years and had recently pur chased a home in ancaster he is survived by his wife and one dau ghter arlene three sisters and two brothers mrs- john hepburn of den williams mrs arthur town- send miss margaret thornberry barry and robert all of hamilton the funeral service was conduc ted at the church of st john the evangelist by the rev gilmcur assisted by the superintendent of the sunday school mr aydt 3r thornberry was a very active wor ker in his church and a member of the senior bible class interment was in woodlawn cemetery efficiency of the swimming clas ses conducted by the lions clnb at the cpmsnunity swimming pool this summer was proven when a to- tal of 182 time time which the girls were allowed to spend their own way this was mostly spent trading or just talfcing with girls from overseas though oc casionally time was taken out to write home or to friends but al ways there was something going on movies square dancing sing ing or likewise almost every unit four patrols had the honour of having as their guest for a meal sometime during the camp period either mrs kes- bitt or the countess who preferred to be called paki naturally ev eryone was nervous at the thought of entertaining such an important person but when the time came it was found out that they were warm and friendly just like any other guides saturday august 17th was visi tors day at the camp and everyone then was invited to the giant camp- fire in the evening when every country put on a short performance of one type or another during the day the guests were able to- sec fashion shows and folk danc ing from many countries antt al lowed to see through the whole campsite theme of the camp which was held in commemoration of the founders one hundreds birthday was world friendship the flag raising ceremony on friday august 9th was a solemn thrilling moment never to be for gotten by anyone who witnessed it at a given moment three guides from each of the fortyone coun tries in attendance in full dress uniform broke the flag of their country on saturday august 10th des pite the rain the official opening of the camp was held the only change in plans being that every one was forced to wearnrtncoats with mrs ranjcine nesbitt chief guide commissioner for canada
