the high- school library group visited the toronto museum and reference library we caught the noon bus to tor onto and on arriving at our destin ation went straight into the mus cum where we split into groups and spent a very interesting time browsing around the exhibits we were quite amazed at the size of this building and the wonderful way thai it 1s laid out prom the museum we walked through the university grounds to the library where we were wel comed by hiss margaret bunting an acquaintance of the club and personal friend of mrs lambert miss bunting introduced us to miss jean macmillan the head librarian after miss macmillan had welcom ed us we were turned over to our guide mr brlnkley a young li brarian from the southern states who was to show us around for the main part of our visit first of all we went into the main reference hall where thousands of books are available for reference only they cannot be taken out then we went to see the wonderful and ingenious cataloguing system and lhe stacks the latter consisting of five floors of books all for reference after our guide had shown us the famous osborne collection of sket ches and drawings we weretaken into the photostat room where we learned how books and pictures can be copied in a matter of minutes it is in this department that micro- films arc made of the main news papers the kipling room a particularly interesting section to our group consisted of books just for the teen j agers thece was even a table es- pecially reserved for high school students the librarian of this fas- cinating room gave us a
