years ago there was but one service club here now along with the tremendous growth of georgetown it is found that be side georgetowns first and by far the oldest dub the lions there are two newer clubs the rotary club and the kinsmen which was newjy formed with a charter night in guelph some weeks ago the subject of this item the georgetown rotary club was for med some three years ago and their charter night was held on march 7th with over two hundred present in the legion hall on mill stnfcl since that time the club has had a solid record of achievement and membership while still fairly small has held its own and rec ently has shown astcady growth privately rotary members ap prove this feeling quite happy to operate with their group of en thusiastic members and let those interested seek to join the club father than have a membership drive to obtain new members better to have thirty enthusiastic members whose attendance is regu lar and who take an active inter est rather than open up the club to those who are not vitally inter estcd in rotary and its work op ines one past president the charter president of the group was john gunn a chemical engineer at provincial paper also active in manj other groups and this j ear a councillor 195657 prexy was pictajhcarlv an aero nautical togmeerat malton who resides in town the current year sees bill carr head enough jobs to keep each member busv and feeling the arc making a i worthwhile contribution to their i club as indeed they do i principal interest althoush the group has mam others is the fact that rotarj is synonmous with the easter seal campaign for the crippled children this takes a large share of proceeds from club activities although the amount of money given to other worthj cau ses in the town borders on the un believable for so small a group as much as possible rotary pol icy has been to keep away from selling draw tickets and to con wool the go ernment deficient paj ment applies oni
