received their new student minister mr murray mcbride representatives from hallon pres- btory who took part in the ser vice were rev molr waters chairman rev w w shcrwn secretary r ross adams of acton and rev llovd staplcton of streetsville who preached the sermon other visiting clcrgjmen who were present for the occas ion and who brought greetings and words of welcome included rev duncan foster rev e e baskicr of dublin street unite j church guelph from wherc mr mcbride came as a candidate for the ministry and mr ken grif fiths student minister at ebenex- er cnurch and also from dublin street church following the reg ular service of worship a social time was spent downstairs when mr and mrs mcbride were intro duced to the congregations and were welcomed by all present rev foster mr brampton john cornelius 15 victoria st was the only canadian among passengers who took a bus tour through mexico and l part of the us recently john joined the tour at phoenix from toronto and travelled by a mexican bus company through 17 states of me xico and in all was away twenty- five days the party crossed the border to the us at nogalcs af ter 11000 miles of sight seeing mr cornelius employees accepting march 31st as the starting date for a contract council on monday voted to accept the contract which has been delayed because a majorit of councillors did not like the previous dec 31st date a by law is being prepared which will be signed by the ma yor and clerk for he town 7 mayor armstrong brought up the question of a eompan which he had heard had rented the arena for an auction sale of commodities which are sold by local scores the town will de rive no revenue from ttiis other than the arena rent he said and be was interested in seeing that the town should obtain the maxi mum fee allowable in order to discourage this as much as pos sible the town he believes has a bylaw covering this but it could not be found in the records council issued instructions to have such a bylaw prepared yesterday a further search of town records revealed a 1934 by law which requires a 250 fee for such an operation it pays to shop for quality at one of ontarios finest clothing stores
