and taps speeches of thanks were given by mrs stanley allen antr muriel thompson after which some of these very helpful young girls as sisted mrs allen in serving gin gerale and cookies at supper time on tuesday no vember 4th the residents had the honour and pleasure of welcoming to the manor the hon louis p cecile minister of public welfare in the provincial government of ontario mr cecilc was one of a number of distinguished guests who called on the residents when they were assembled in the dining room for their evening meal mr stanley allen the superintendent of the manor introduced mr stan hall mpp for halton county and mr hall in turn introduced mr cecilc in replying mr cecile ex pressed the pleasure he felt in vi siting this fine communal home one of many for which the pro vince of ontario is winning fame across canada and remarked on the happy expressions and alert bearings of the residents he as sured them that their welfare was always close to the heart not only of himself but also of all the pro vincial government officials and promised to come again as soon as possible included in this group of distinguished guests were mrs stan hall warden william card of oakville and former w arden tom millward of bronte five tables of progressive euch re were in play on tuesday even ing november 4th when 10 ladies and 10 men attended the regular meeting of the euchre club the lesson you teach mrs jesse mcenerj read a poem muself by edgar guest the program continued with a community singsong and closed with a ver amusing read ing minnie at the skating rink given by mrs robert mcenery after the ladies had been than ked by mrs s allen for this first program so varied amusing and interesting a delicious lunch of sandwiches tarts and tea was scr ved by the visitors during the lunch hour piano music was pro vided by mrs ernest mcenery at which time mr viggers joined in with the bones mrs fred shor till had been the pianist for the reqular program the program was heartil enjoved bj the resi dents and it is their sincere hope that this first meeting will not be the last on thursday afternoon novem ber 6th another group of women residents enjoyed a tour of the country around milton through the kindness of mrs louis keene of r r 1 campbcllville the kindness of the milton ro tary club in donating to the resi dents the surplus candv and pea nuts from the
