getting ready for the annual christmas vesper ervicc of the canadian girls in ining it i a service which has become a sjmbol of the nat tonal strength and unity of the cgit movement groups everywhere in all the ten provinces will take part in this rededication to the ideals and pur poses of the movement dressed in the white middies and the navy skirts of the cggit uniform the girls will sing the familiar christ mas hymns and join in the read ings and prayers in most churches the climax of the service comes with the light ing of three candles to symbolize the meaning of the cgit purpose sometimes the processional is also in candlelight many groups arc assisted by a choir with special christmas music and some hjjvc a speaker but all of them follow the same rdcr of service which is prepared by the national cgit committee o give thousands of members this pportumt of worshipping togc her during the christmas season canadian girlsin training is an nterdenominational movement under the canadian council of churches lis activities arc manj and varied but its chief purpose is to present the christian way of life to teen age girls the christmas cspor sericc is not for members alone of the church conducting the crmce club midtown by dr hi gang the midmtcrs were in top form friday night as they rocked out the music the crowd was a good one and we really en joyed ourselves in just thursday for their annual christmas party mr and mrs jack armstrong enter lained at their tiome on parkview blvd prior to leaving for the city the party of thirty people inclu ded mr and mrs john ord evening when the same films were again shown and skits were presented by the classes of mrs s h phillipps and mrs eric timros heather meades accompanied her sister rosemary who sang a christ mas carol there was a piano solo by ann lorraine noble and a vo cal trio mary mcchntock carol ann barber and ellen biehn roy cock played accordion accompam ment for carol singing and after candy was distributed there was a short period of dancing douglas meades sunday school superintendent was chairman for both concerts and rev kenneth richardson spoke briefly at each the junior choir sang a carol id the evening remembering that christmas is a time for giving children attend ing the concerts brought gifts and it was decided to send them to springhill ns to brighten the holiday for children who lost their fathers m the mine disaster
