to the society for the cooperation he had received over the past jear and then turned the chair over to the incoming presi dent the new president asked for the spirit that had prevailed in the past in the society and im note pupil progress at sunshine school the regular meeting of milton and district association for the retarded children was held in the sunshine school thursday may hth mr fred cross act ing president in the absence of mr j mcgfath called the meeting to order and welcomed the new members when the business ar ising from the correspondence was taken care of mrs jeffares school principal was called upon and gave an outline of the gradual pro gress of each pupil this proved to the parents and members that each child was receiving the spe cial attention which is required for these pupils mrs t howden in presenting her report from the mothers aux iliary expressed the gratitude of the mothers for the splendid co operation received both in dona tions assistance the day of the toa zaar and for those who came to purchase they were proud to donate to the treasurer mr sproat 100 to increase finances mrs howden also reported that a carload of parents journeyed to gnlha and were taken on a con ducted tour of that institution theji returned home quite satisfied that all was being done for the happiness and welfare of these children mrs ernest ball georgetown spoke of the continued interest displayed by the kinsmen of that town in the work that is being car ned on in milton in the interests of retarded children she repor td that mr addison past presid ent and mrs jeffares had atten ded and addressed chapel street home school association and she had received some very comphm entary comments on the informa tion they had given the north halton teachers federation had i also been addressed by these spea ken and were well received mr addison accompanied by some ex ecutive members journeed to bur hngton where mr addison instal led the new officer for the bur hngton and district association for this year mrs ball also attended the sixth annual convention of the ontario association which was held at the smith falls hospital school for re tarded in presenting her re port mrs ball related her personal experience as she toured the class rooms interviewing the pupils as she went along these pupils were delighted to have someone to speak and talk with them she paid glowing tribute to the con cert put on by these pupils ebpic ialy she mentioned the part the boy scouts played as they march ed up and saluted the flat this was most impressive as iherc were 300 of them the singing of hymns and songs of younger pupils was surprising and revealed positive proof of what training mixed with human kindness patience and per severance can be accomplished with these pupils due to the lateness of the hour mr addison reserved his report for the next meeting lie also spoke of the pleasure he derived as he gain experience but atoms bow to oaks
