and the residents would like to join mr long in another huntingtrip by way of the movie screen wherever he takes one shut ins sunday june 4 was both an interesting and an inspiring day at the manor in the morning some thirty of the men and wo men residents attended the morning service at knox pres byterian church this was in honour of shut ins day and ar rangements had been made to transport the residents to the church in cars rev j k l mcgown deliv ered a very instructive sermon based on chapter 13 of first corinthians a sermon that was enjoyed very much by the resi rents the residents appreciat ed this kindness and thoughtful ness on the part of the mem bers of knox church gideon on sunday afternoon the gideons were in charge of the church service at the manor mr ralph morton was the lead er for the service and mrs morton played the new organ mr andrew dalby offered an eloquent prayer and sang a very fine solo under his wings in response to sev eral requests mr clarence coles came again to the m anor to deliver another of his very in spiring sermons he based bis sermon on verses 8 to 16 of chapter 3 of philip- plans which mr morton had read as the scripture lesson mr coles stresed the fact that god wants us to forget the dark things in the past and press on to the mark by doing th s we win the prize the calling to be with god at the end of the journey of life u of t towards the end of the after noon halton manor had the honour of being inspected by the group of university stud ents who were spending the weekend in m hon as guests of the rotary club of milton the weekend in milton had been arranged for these stud ents by the international rela tions committee of the milton i futary club with messrs char lie anderson and ted wood as cochairman fourteen u of t students were in the visiting group and they were accomp anied by president howard gns- wold and a number of other rrotarians and their wives the students came mainly from pakistan and india cal cutta mysore and the punjab in india were all represented and several localities in pakis tan as well as the british co ony of hong kong the stu dents are studying a variety of subjects at the university such as sociology metallurgy and town planning they were de lighted with their tour of the manor and showed keen inter est in all parts of the building the manor feels it an honour to be an object of was trimmed with lace which matched her gown she wore a cultured pearl neck lace and earrings the gift of the groom and earned pink roses stephanotis and ivy the bride s sisters misses shirley and v ole beamish were maid of honour and junior bridesmaid mrs albert benton rr 4 acton sitter of the groom was bridesmaid the three attendants were gow ned alike in rose pink njlon chiffon over taffeta with pink gloves and headdresses of pink rosebuds with net veils they carried small white baskets of pink and white carnations and ivy the groom who is the son of mr and mrs gordon quin ton rr 2 meaford had his i cousin irwin beamish creemore as groomsman ushers were another brother william beam ish durham and tits brother in law albert benton it was a double ring ceremonv mothers of the hostess with lunch and mrs j c murray moved a vote of thanks to mrs re d and all who were responsible for the actlvi i ties of the evening st john s guild meeting was held at the home of mrs j c murray on tuesday evening with 13 members present the financial statement showed a good profit from the lilac tea and bake sale final plans ere made for the hot roast beef dinner to be held j inp d in the absence of the president and vice mrs j c murray was appointed to con duct the meeting kathy and mike twin child ren of mr and mrs bob mc donald celebrated their 5th birthday on wednesday with party those present were their sister sharon lynda law son ross hunter donny stad don andy and rosalyn atkin son mr and mrs george mcder mott and brian of toronto were visitors with the humphreys lorrie clow daughter of mr i and mrs ron clow celebrated her 3rd birthday with some of her little friends sandra cor die and debbie cash visited her in the afternoon and in the evening her
