activities erf norval acton and palermo nlor farmen were given at the fourth annual mefting of the hilton juniors last week presi dent paul hay of norval junior fannen presented this report of the australia end hawaii they ware on the holsteln prleslan tour also in march the jun iors held a variety night in hilton with the juniors present ing their two plays and provid ing musical entertainment heads officers the scene of our recreation meeting it consisted of a picnic lunch sod baseball gamej the ball game ended in an iball tie with jo members partici pating the hal ton junior farmers formed a bowling league in oc tober the four teams co of members of the norjval and acton clubs we took a bus trip to niag ara falls on september 19- the juniors enjoyed a tour through the sir adam beck generating station a look- at the floral dock a ride across the whirl pool rapids a look under the tails and some brave mem bers walked up brocks monu ment the boys won first and second for their displays on soil im provement and farm safety at milton fair the junior lnsti tute received a championship ribbon and grade a for their floral display commemorative tree the juniors participated in selling fire extinguishers for the halton farm safety council a red maple tree was planted in hornby community park by the norval junior farmers to commemorate halton jr farm ers 50th anny all the members planted trees on their- own pro perty to commemorate this an niversary and to replace the dead and dying elms mrs coulter a representative of the farm safety council spoke to the group on safety and showed two films on this subject norval in december at stewart- town hall featuring the mm- nlghters orchestra it ma great success we helped needy family in halton county at christmas time the furrow competi tion at the halton plowing match honors to club wilma and ruth mason brought honours to halton by winning first place in the trio competition at the toronto con ference jelf nurse won first in his event at the guelph field day and stole and john plaenow working on a background ed first in the horse shoe pit- for the junior farmer play this thing- year the junior fanner boys are in february the banquet an nual meeting and dance were held in stewarttown ball with gordietapp as the guest spea ker young rural men and women choose new exec hatton junior farmers named their new executive for 1966 at the annual meet ing seated are new president harold thompson and secretary carol freeman standing are county director joy hayward vicepresident ruth mason past president joe love and treasurer lots hunter seek new members for norval junior farmers car rally one of many halton juniors activities the annual meeting of halt- on junior farmers held at boy- ne community centre last week heard reports on the past years junior fanner activities from secretaries and presidents of the three member organization heltons junior farmer sec retary jean hunter read the fol lowing report on the county activities during 1965- the halton junior farmers were presented with a gavel at the guelph conference in april the annual church service was held on may 9 at knox presby terian church dairy princess contest was held at the hornby garden party on july 17 with margaret hunter chosen as the winner of halton the county field day held on june 26 at the nelson high school in burlington was great success fire extinguisher and aluminum canes were sold by the members at the steam reunion ed segsworth was chosen as the united nations delegate something new and different this year was the car rally which was enjoyed greatly by everyone the county plowing match was held in october this past year with mrs ria wilson win ning the title of queen of the furrow contest verna thomp son the winner of the ontario queen of the furrow contest halton junior farmers celeb rated their 50th anniversary at the hornby towers golf club in bridge club nine tables competed at last weeks session of georgett duplicate bridge club in legion auditorium and george solty and gerry reynolds and mr and mrs jack hooper were winners others who placed in the win list for the night were northsouth 2nd its with manitoba prince ed ward island alberta great britain usa and tours of eas tern ontario and quebec united nations soils and land use lo cal and county bus trips per sonal development leadership camp recreation sports base ball hockey field days curl ing dancing picnics barbecues farmers organization is open to rural young people 16 years of age and over this year at the public speaking november courses held at albion hills at the toronto conference in the junior fanners held the january the ladies trio plac- fonnal dance at paradise gardi ed first it is comprised of ruth ens in guelph and hope to have and wilma mason and joy hay- an added attraction of choosing ward egg producers reelect lindsay as president ah three activities and many more are built around their motto self help and com munity betterment membership in the junior guernsey breeders get trophies at milton fair trophies were awarded to members of the peel halton guernsey club at its annual banquet meeting monday night march 7th in hornby the trophies were for win nings received during the clubi exhibition at the milton fall fair last september j h cameron of norval took most of the awards he recei ved trophies for having the grand champion cow being premier exhibitor and having the best breeders herd the best uddcred female tro phy went to j l chisholm who also received progenyofdam and premier breeder awards william g bruce of hilton won the gctofsire trophy the clubs banquet was held in st stephens anglican church about 82 attended announcing our new special savings reserve account
