colourful operetta presented ly glen public school cast the centennial project of glen williams public school vu an unusual one the pupils and staff presented an operetta thumbclina on the evenings f march 21st and 22nd the evenings began with a song of welcome and dances perform cd by pupils from grades 1 1 and 3 directed by mrs mac hulan and mrs prcsswood ah the parts in the operetta were sung while a narrator told the story of the adventures of the little flower girl several parts were performed byadif i jerenl person each night the lnain characters were portrayed by the following students children from grades 4 to a the students under the direc tion of mr mckeown practised diligently for their appearances they were rewarded for their effort by the enthusiastic ap preciation of the audience at the closhif performance a gift was presented to miss duff who gave her time to play the piano accompaniment at the performances and practices bouquets were presented to mrs norton who services has en as well as the cost of caring ted out that notice was given of intention to amend the bylaws at the annual meeting harcfa 24 1966 the bylaws passed accor din gly march 16 1967 one year later mr hinton was present at both meetings and did not record an objection regarding the presentation of the budget provincial legis lation requires that a children s aid society budget must be ap proved by the board of the soc iety it must then go before the municipal body for their proval and following this must also have the approval of the minister of public welfare the society has acted in for children as long as there accordance with legislative re quirements it should be noted that mr hinton has been a member of the board of director of the childrena aid society through out the past year and has had ample opportunity to express himself on any of these matters if so desired exists a demand for our serv ices we must meet it there has also been a mark ed increase in our population and where this occurs there is a greater demand for all the services the society provides lt may be of interest to the taxpayers of halton county to know that because of the chin ge in legislation the govern xoent of onl is now carrying the society and this results in an actual decrease in the am ount payable by local taxpayers this year in respect to the new bylaws c the society it should be pom
