country women of the world district day arranged for hal ton district wi members on november 13th mrs john mccul lough of ttfcethusijstic r guest speaker she h been very active in womeny instit ute work at all levels la peel county and has alo been pro vincial secretary of fwio she has attended several acww conferences in other countries and made many friends as a re- sull in her presentation he sket ched the background history of acww and showed coloured slides of the delegates and con ference setting at michigan state university east lansing michigan where the 12th tri ennial conference of acww was held september she explained that about the turn of the century and un known to each other key men in various countries assisted wom en in rural areas to organize in groups like our own womens institute whose founding in 1807 at stoney creek ontario is credited to mr erland lee and mrs adelaide hoodw similar groopa vara formed in europe and around calcutta india and a mrs dutt mother- inlaw of mrs arotl dutt the president of acww founded the country womens organ izatlon that still bears het na- me aberd w of the that time was very interested in these movements and helped form hew groups in the british isles scotland in particular then later she worked tirelessly to have them joined in the world body known as the as sociated country women of the world this was finally
