sir after submitting a written request i was allowed to speak at mondays council meeting big deal i asked my councillors tp put forth a motion that the ruling prohibiting the rights of a rate payer to address council with out first requesting permission to speak at least three days be fore council is due to meet be amended so that ratepayers are given the opportunity to express their opinions on any aubject before it is yoted upon by council either council did not get the point or were purposely evading it the ratepayers are not allow ed anyaay in motions that are being passed at that time it is no use for the ratepayer to come back the following week with permission to speak when a mo tion they wished to speak on had already been passed and can not or will not be rescinded for example what good would it have done if a hun dred angry ratepayers had at tended council meeting the night council voted themselves a 50 pay hike what could they have done but sit there with closed mouths surely if we are paying the shot we should be allowed to enter into debate on any matter that we feel is against our own interests as a ratepayer or employer if it needs putting any plainer we are surely entitled to this consideration audrey hall norval news get well wishes are extended to russell foster who is a pat ient in georgetown tc district memorial hospital mrs w ridley was guest fisher had it well organized we could not help but notice thd absence of many regular branch members who attend the week ly branch dance perhaps it was because it was not a legion dance in reality it is still a branch dance for the profits from the hockey dance go into the branch coffers just as sure ly as the profits from the ways and meansdances da any dance that is held on a saturday whether it be hockey air cadets pipe band or ladies auxiliary is for the benefit of the branch we feel that per haps this explanation of the saturday night dance setup might dispel any thoughts that some dances are not branch ances somewhere to go it must have been most grat ifying to ron lincoln and those few members who give their time on sunday evenings to see the turnout of teens in the aud itorium last sunday when the room was full to capacity with youth with somewhere to go peterborough retained the provincial trophy in a bridge tournament there on saturday with sudbury second the local branch team
