residents views on bilingualism 38 ann street mr dupas- this letter is in answer to vhat i consider an appalling article about what you consider georgetown lacks i have noth ihg against people speaking two languages and i expect a good part of canada does speak two languages not necessarily french the article starts off by say- fpg that your family is perfect ly bilingual it is nice to bear someone say that their family is perfect because they are bil ingual there must be a lot of imperfections around the only reason why you speak en is because you had to speak english because of that you ate luckly bilingual furtberdown the article yon gay that you speak french in the home and listen to it on the radio and no doubt you con- in the mail bag town should subsidize little theatre building 82 prince charles dr dear sir we recently moved to town and think that the georgetown little theatre is a very fine yjenture but why so little sup port from the town itself why doesnt georgetown build them their own little theatre it neednt be anything sumptuous merely adequate this town is iftcky to have theatre group at all and such a good one how many canadian communit ies do have one im sure many ratepayers wouldnt mind a small portipn of their taxes allocated to he promotion of a little culture rather to that than to any fur- flier council pay hikes m t so how about it georgetown u could have your own cultur al centre and make it some thing to be proud of merely jr your support yours truly mrs renee snowdon voi a in french to your friends you say your children revert to english at recess and a few other times during the day you are lucky at that rate they might learn a little english you also say you take stu dents to school in toronto he cause there is no french sec ondary school in ceorgetown maybe you didnt know that there are lots of students going to school in toronto because georgetown couldnt provide the courses why dont you see them asking for new secondary schools with the facilities they want our taxes are high en ough we dont need something that is necessary for only a few thats life you also say that the school board never shows interest al though they added a few bil lngual classes to the holy cross school that is double talk it would be nice if every school had a few rooms added on i agree that bilingualism is a great asset but it is greater far those who dont understand english roger gadd able at all high schools and pri vate schools in ontario in the near future alrfaom the feorgetown legion air cadet squadron is soon
