that is shaping up in the north part of halton and feel counties two weeks ago a robarts re port outlined a series pf new northsouth go lines but said it would be premature at this time to consider putting these in ser vice because of heavy capital and operating costs one of the proposed lines weuld provide commuter service between georgetown and tor onto snow said the georgetown area is one of the fastest grow ing in the region he also noted that in neigh bouring peel county two mas sive developments arc planned that will involve 9000 acres and which will lure 200000 new residents to the region these areas of growth must be served by some form of commuter service and i feel the answer is the go train service said snow certainly the growth in i these areas would eventually offset any deficit which the gov- lernment now projects i feel northsouth service would be- come economical within five years snow said he will continue to push for a northsouth rapid transit service between george town and toronto while at the same time support a similar service for milton over the cprp line and extension of the jatfe- shore service to bronte and burlington on the eastwest run i accept that services such as go must eventually pay for themselves or at least break even on operations concluded snow but the growth coming to the haltonpeel region can not be overlooked snows comments
