christmas social they had dinner at the north hil ton golf club and then return ed to the fellowship room of the church for games and re- freshmpnts and gifts were ex changed the cgit girls went carol ling around the village last wednesday evening they re turned tq the church for liqf clier dime giles the offering chocolate and cookies and an z was received by peter wag- stflffe and brett giles the gifts of food clothing and toys were fiven to st lukes united church in downtown toronto to help them in their ministry in that area the- special money offerings wili go to overseas relief pro jects supported by the church mr and mrs g wulf and fai mily mountain st are enjoy- 1 ing a holiday in tneir nativi germany exchange of gifts the amount they received will go toward their mission project the mee tings will qpntinuein the new year everyone is enjoying the new fallen snow the hills and roads arc alive with snowmobiles ar ound the village including the j unused cnr northern line which town district hospital last tuesday afternoon the mothers and children of the united church cradle roll en joyed a christmas party in the fellowship room they sang sbme christmas carols and mrs ed green read a story the shiniest angel to the children the babies and chil dren up to kindergarten age each received a gift lunch was served and while mothers chatted the children played together and enjoyed their ice cream and cookies the cradle roll secretary mrs w mcgowan and mrs c barth were in charge her many friends are glad to know that mrs fred jackson is able to be home after a stay in georgetown hospital there will be a carol service in st albans sunday evening dec 21 any village children who wish to go carolling around the village be at the parish hall thursday evening dec18 st albans ladies guild had dinner last friday night at the driftwood norval and re turned to the home of mrs r reynolds for a social evening and exchange of gifts we are glad to see christo pher haines son of vtr and mrs john haines glen crescent drive home after a visit to sick childrens hospital tor onto mrs cecil barth norval church junior choir sings at peel manor the junior choir of norval disneyland hawaii honolulu united church entertained at peel manor brampton on thursday eveningdec 11 they sang a medley of christmas songs after which they led the i older folk in singing christmas carols and then served them tea and cookies choir leaders mrs gordon tj mrs garnet laidlaw and mrs peter pomeroy were assisted by several of the mo thers of the junior choir the hour long program pres ented by the children was ycry much enjoyed by the older folk they were thanked by the superintendent of the home and each child was presented with a bag of candy m enrolled into guides on wed nesday evening d6cembcr 3 in norval united church were carolyn ewcn kim woollcm kelly krost laurie robinson gail harrison and kathy white guide lieutenant mrs sweczie enrolled the six girls as capt- tain mrs jarvie was unable to attend le to illness badges were also presented to nancy hamilton and karen robinson their pioneer badges joy harrison the cooks badge debbie frost the home nurse and the swimmers badge lunch was served following the special rficeting the even ing was planned by two of the guides whowic working on their hostess badges joy harri son and marianne robinson enjoyable was held by unit one of a very enjoyable evening r unit on of nor val united church ucw on thursday evening dec 11 at the home of mr and mrs wil- bcrt cleave georgetown when the ladies entertained their husbands at a delicious supper with 32 present all were seat ed around a long table in the recrcauartroom rev r w ridley spoke briefly and mrs lawrence may said grace following the supper mrs buy wilson presided for evening program mrs spencer wilson assisted by mrs james laidlaw aftd mrs ed mclean gave a christmas theme devo tional with carols mrs harold lyons gave ihe 1 committees report president mrs guy wilson vice mrs w cleave secretary mrs pcrcyf laidlaw treasurer mrs mur ray laird r the highlight of the evening was slides shown by mrs w san francisco the grand can yon phoenix chicago and home then she showed some excellent slides of local inter est and events including a pic ture taken the morning before the big record breaking snow storm in october showing a rainbow in the sky and the green grass and lovely trees and shrubs in their back yard this picture was followed by several beautiful scenes around georgetown taken the follow ing morning of the results of the storm showing the trees still with their leaves on laden down with snow mrs hartley cameron gave the courtesies and the evening ended with coffee and cookies i unit two of jmorval united church ucw held their christ mas meeting at the home of imrs garnet laidlaw on wed nesday evening december 10 with mrs gordon laidlaw pre siding mr paul johnson and mrs bill laidlaw gave a christmas theme devotional with readings poems and carols mrs ken reid and mrs gordon rcid were in charge of the program whichyvas an auction sale of items donated by the members mrs peter pomeroy acted as auctioneer mrs bill laidlaw gave the report of the nominating com mittee president mrs paul johnson vice mrs earl wilson secretary mrs ronald moffatt treasurer mrs howard chester following the meeting a pot luck supper and a social time were enjoyed mrs ed mclean esquesing briefs the last meeting of the year is the day the reeve of j ksquesing received his salary monday he was voted 1700 for the year the councillors
