one ilch i have sent to prime minister robarts tlie blank cheque given to the dept o education in the past two years has resulted in soaring rates to the point where many taxpayers cannot meet the increased assessments monks spent on education has had apparently no ceiling i control over the spending we have schools with marble halls and facilities beyond even the remotest dreams of educa tors and certainly beyond the reach of tlje taxpayer to pay for salaries paid to administrat or and staffs are exorbitant to say- the least but who cares hie taxpayer can be soaked to meet the cost to contrast we have a crying need for more hospital beds especially in smaller communi ties in someis is necessary to bed down the overflow of pa tients in the halls which is a terrific danger in the event of fire or othr need for fast evac uation of the premises now what good is education if the health is not protected is it not a shortsighted view to permit these conditions to exist surely mr premier you will not permit this condition to ex ist any longer if it is to conti nue then we feel that the only alternative for the taxpayer is to elect a government that will endeavour to at least to try to bring these things into proper perspective and balance so far neither the conserva tives nor the liberals hive the interests of the jhardpressedl taxpayer in mind- i trust that your government will give the necessary re lief by cutting out the frills in education pay reasonable sal- tries to those in the education- 1 field and sec that ther- are at leost sufficient beds in our hospitals requiring them yours truly ed a peters in the mail bag fears quarries fate an ohsip mishmash r r 2 rockwood dear sir t municipal councillors across ontario should step very war ily before giving queens park sole jurisdiction over local quarries we have seen th mishmash of ohsip the sim ple straightforward legislation that should have been medi care just think what queens park could do with carte- blanche quarry legislation ie that local quarries could wind up as a stinking garbage dump for metrotoronto hamilton or qshawa or even as a sewage lagoon and the residents pow erless to do anything about it w a johnson mrs w lonsonpf wynfie4d kennels r r 3 georgetown with skipper and his trophies i psychiatrists say youre per- ifcctly normal if youre feeling cense and a little dejected
