THE GEORGETOWN GEMINI WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7, 1996 4 NEWSSHORTS Vehicle break-ins A Weber Drive resident started the month of Au- gust on a down note, finding that his briefcase had been removed from his vehicle some time during the night. The vehicle contained a specialized tool kit used in the repair of computers. The value of the tool kit and briefcase is esti- mated at about $1,500. Halton Regional Police report no signs of forced entry on the vehicle. That same evening a Gray Gate resident reported the theft of about $100 worth of cassette tapes from anunlocked vehicle. Police report that the perpetra- tor was spotted and fled the scene when disturbed. There was no damage to the vehicle and police currently have no suspects in the crime. B&E on Armstrong Sometime between the close of business Friday and the early morning hours of Saturday, a break-in was detected at an Armstrong Avenue business. Using the theme of "Coun- try fun, city handy," the soci- ety has also modernized the fair's image with the intro- duction of the "Cock-a-doo- dle Dude," a hip chicken who is still small town enough to know a good thing when he sees it. Local merchants are also being given the opportunity to get in on the act, being offered advertising space on T-shirts using the image of the Cock-a-doodle Dude.
