14 THE GEORGETOWN GEMINI WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 28, 1996 Korzack's red hot bat cools Chili Peppers Behind the dangerous bat of Teri Korzack, The Grape Escape squashed the Red Hot Chili Peppers 17-8. Korzack led the way smacking a double and a tri- ple, and scoring three runs. Bonnie Hatcher had a pair of hits and four rbi's, while Linda Anderson added two JR. For the Peppers, Sharon Zmija had a good night with twotriples anda double while Bonnie Malenfant added a three-bagger of her own. Congrats to Mark Snow and Paula Zilio who were hitched up. There was no reason for the Blues to be Moodie as they flattened We' ll Drink to That (W.D.T.T.) 33-16. The Blues had a big night with the bats. Lesley Beaque tripled and doubled twice, while Judy Faulhaffer and Diane Moore added triples. Laurie Legere was the lone bright light for the losers smacking a triple and a dou- ble, while teammate Holly Peterson added a triple. Out of The Blue finally the team of the same name 18-6. Cindy See knocked in five runs for the winners who were also bolstered by the efforts of Collenn McGuire, who had 4 rbi's and Julie Didone who had two rbi's and two doubles. Starring for Mean & Ugly were Susan Priest, who slammed a tape measure homerun, and Laura Watson, who snatched away a couple of hits in the outfield with spectacular leatherwork. Strong hitting andrun pro- duction in the middle four innings by the Green Beer Eh's (GBE) gave them a one- sided 23-7 win over Off Base. Forthe winners Jody Jack- son homered and Jean Puck- ering chipped in with four hits. Denise Haas and Karen Under 19's eliminated Two-out-of-three may not be bad, but it wasn't good enough for the Georgetown McEachern Steering Under-19 soc- cer club. They closed out their 1996 campaign last week with a pair of wins over Brampton, but were eliminated from the sec- ond round of the playoffs by a tough Milton squad. Georgetown closed out their regular season, August 19 in Brampton, with an impressive 2-0 win over the homeside. The girls applied constant pressure throughout the game to keep their oppo- nents off balance. Scoring for Georget- own were Melissa MacFarlane, with her first goal of the year, and Jill Gordon. Danay Guignard recorded the shutout while Elizabeth Crawford, Rachel Buikema and Melanie McFarlane chipped in with great games. Georgetown, who fin- ished third in league standings, opened the playoffs last Friday night in Milton with a return match against Brampton. Once again Georgetown showed the Brampton squad that they were in- deed the more skilled and determined team, trounc- ing their big city neighbors 7-2. Tales collected three each.
