Arts Alive is a group of volunteers who are dedicated to promoting the arts in Halton Hills. They stage con- certs (Second City Revue, Classical Brunch, etc.) and the proceeds are used to im- prove the facilities at the Cultural Centre in Georget- own. Thus far, they have raised over $17,000, which has been spent on various improvements to the John Elliott Theatre, restoring and preserving the stained glass windows in the gallery, and the recent installation of a box office at the theatre, sup- plying the necessary compu- ter and software. Their current project is a new sound system for the theatre. Every five years Arts Alive presents awards to citizens of Halton Hills who have made significant contributions to the arts. Following a call for nominations, the Awards this year will be presented to the following: - Dorothy Hunt receives the Ralph Ursel Award for voluntary work in the arts. Dorothy Hunt A. Dale Wood Hunt is a 25 year member of the Georgetown Little Thea- tre, working backstage on 78 different plays, 30 as pro- ducer. A. Dale Wood receives the Kenneth R. Harrison Award for encouragement of youth in the arts. : Jacky Willows receives the Arts Alive Award for visual arts.
