The Raiders were on the wrong end ofan 11-1 trounc- ing at the hands of their op- ponents from Newmarket. Severe traffic on the 401 caused many Raider players and their equipmentto be late for the game. However, it would seem 'as though many Raiders didn't show up to play at all. After the first six shots of the game, and with no warm- up, the Raiders found them- selves down 4-0 and net minder Carl Rossignol found himself on his way to the Raider bench. A game that started out badly for the Raiders got worse as their lone marker didn't come until the mid- way point of the second pe- riod. Garry McNiven banged home a shot from the point with help from Marco Presuiti and Andrew Peters. Saturday's home opener proved to be a better game for the Raiders. A 5-3 victory over a young Vaughn Vipers squad was satisfying for play- ers and fans alike. Despite being short- handed for much of the first half of the game the locals came up with four first pe- riod goals that sent them on their way. Brad Cripps opened the scoring at 12:53 with help from Bill Rennie and Marco Presuiti. Andrew Sandziuk had the next two goals for the Raid- ers. The first from Presuiti and Adrian Vienneau.
