(Eve Martin photo) Raiders split weekend games BY KYLE GOODLET The Georgetown Gemini The Raiders 1996-97 start quay seem slow and out of control to some, but their just less than 500 record doesn't look so bad considering they only won a total of six games last year. The locals dropped two out of three games this week in OHA Western Conference action. A 10-2 trouncing at the hands of the Streetsville Derbys in a mid-week tilt and Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Oakville Blades framed the Raiders 4-3 victory over the Mississauga Chargers. Tied at the of one period, the Raiders took the lead early in the second on Friday night as a power play goal from blueliner Brian Buchanan slipped past Mississauga netminder Adam Rosso. Two more second period goals came from Adrienne Vienneau and Curtis Carr giving the Raiders the upper hand in this 4-3 finish. The Raiders first period goal came compliments of Acton native David Lajeunesse. For many, the high-lite of Saturday's game was the fact that Hockey Night in Canada's Ron Maclean took care of the refereeing duties. Dave Colagiacomo made his first appearance for the Raiders in this 5-3 loss. "You can tell he hasn't done much skating yet this season" said Coach and GM Rick Bince of Colagiacomo's debut, but Bince is sure that his latest acquisition will come along as he learns to juggle hockey and school. Colagiacomo is taking night courses at York University. Scoring for the Raiders on Saturday were Curtis Carr, Domenic Cignelli and Brad Cripps. Assists went to Ken Mair, Duke Bouskill, Dave Lajeunesse, Andrew Sandziuk, Adrienne Venneau and Adam Bertoli. While he would have liked to have seen some more ticks in the win column after this weekend, Bince is not dissatisfied with the team's record after five games. The SAA thanked Allison's Farm Market for donating the corn and for helping to make the evening successful . 86 lijodel Voar Super Event VO) REASONABLE OFFER REFUSED! 22 | INGOLNMERCURY 877-2261
