Events planned are blind draw dou- bles, men's and ladies' sin- glesand doubles, open cricket doubles and mixed doubles. Total payout is expected to be $5,000 and some of the area's top players will be present. Entry fees for the events range from $10 to $20. The tourney is scheduled to start at 8 pm on the 18th. In similar fashion, the Stoney Creek Legion, is host- ing a charity shoot open on Oct. 27, for singles and dou- bles. Registration is from 10:30 am until play starts at noon. Entry fees are $5 per event plus a can of non-per- ishable food. One dollar of the entry fee will be retained for charity and the remainder returned in prizes. Last Monday's Halton league produced a couple of minor shocks. New team, with several experienced players, Bracky's Grillers took down Bracky's Brew Crew by 11-3. Bracky's Tapsters dropped their first result of the-season, 6-8 to Legion 2. League lead changed following Bracky's Fat Bunch's 11-3 defeat to Coalyard Patty's Number 1 team. Charley's took over first place -- they hit Legion 3 for 12-2. McGibbon 2 won 9-5 over Patty's Number 2 team. Legion 1 defeated Royal Pizza 1 by 11-3 and Pizza 2 snuck by McGibbon 1, 9-4. Patty's 1 and Fat Bunch split the opening teams fours 1-1. Patty's first single, John Colter, took the set from Bracky's Ray See in style. Then Fat Bunch hit back with a vengeance to score seven singles in succession. The doubles began with another win for the home team with John Colter and Scott Hooper over Mark and Erwin See. However, Bracky's were not to be denied on this night and took the remaining three dou- bles for a big win. Inthe match, Joyce Farmer scored 165 for high score; Mark See knocked 140; Erwin See 139; John Colter 132; and a few others made over the 121 mark for bonus point. Terry Hancock, Gary Hardiman and Dave Scutt each scored 180. Doug Staddon fired 168 and Mike Sinnaeve scored four 140s. Daryl Maybanks notched three 140s with doubles com- ing from Danny Drumm, Chris and Dave Scuttand Ken Gritten. Wednesday night's indus- trial league at McGibbon held the first McGibbon Trophy round robin _ night. Woodchuckers came out on top over Nimrods with an 1 1- 2 win. Better Cut Keys de- feated Independents 10-3. New Dream Team took down Gasketman Cutters 9-3 with one set void due to player ming weeks shortages on both teams. Guzzlers held off the Pan- thers' strong challenge by 8- 5.Garth Demenint, Brad Youmans and Paul Kavanagh each opened high with 120. Terry Hancock and Larry Hunt had 112 opens and Joe Cairns made 104.
