WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 4, 1996 THE GEORGETOWN GEMINI 13 TEAM KEEPS PERFECT RECORD AGAINST BRAMPTON SQUAD Novice Raiders perfect against Brampton The Major Novice Raiders traveled to Brampton Memo- rial Arena to once again chal- lenge the Brampton Maroons . The Raiders outplayed the hometown Maroons to take home the two points in a 3-1 effort. Kevin Greer opened up the scoring for Georgetown with a pass from Ryan Torres and Alex Ingramgaro with just 10 seconds left in the first period. Brampton tied it up late in the second. The game re- mained tied until halfway through the third when Geor- getown's Corey Carlton scored with help from Joel Greaves. A couple of min- utes later Joel Greaves scored an unassisted goal to ensure the lead. Jordan White played a great game in the net to keep the Raiders undefeated against the Brampton Ma- roons this season. The Major Novice Raid- ers hosted the very powerful Oakville Rangers at the Gordon Alcott Memorial Arena. Georgetown opened the scoring halfway through the first period with a goal from Michael Carter assisted by Ryan Reist and Corey Carlton. The Rangers tied it up a couple of minutes into the second period. The Raiders gained the lead once again less than a minute later with a goal from Alex Ingramgaro from Michael Carter. Oakvilletied it up once again a little more than a minute later and then scored five unanswered goals in the second and third peri- ods as they really turned up their offense against the Raid- ers who just ran out of steam in the second half of the 7-2 loss. Dylan Malchin and Jor- dan White worked hard keep- ing out 32 of the 39 shots against them in a combined effort. The following day, as luck would have it, the Major Novice Raiders traveled all the way to Fort Erie for a tournament and had to face the tough Oakville team again. The Oakville squad went on to defeat the Raiders that afternoon and the Major Novices played a couple of games the next day. They put Sports scores? 877-1113 ina strong effort but came up short against both Niagara- On-The-Lake and Pelham, making both teams earn the win. The Raiders even outshot Pelham 17-13 in the 3-1 loss. Dylan Malchin and Michael Carter were chosen for the shoot-out competition in which they had a lot of fun. Everyone had a good time at the tournament watching some good hockey and car- rying on at the hotel in Nia- gara Falls with swimming, skateboarding and mini- hockey. Pee Wee II Raiders have busy week The Charlie FitzWhiskey PeeWee II Raiders outshot, out bumped and out hustled the host Burlington squad but couldn't outscore them as Burlington won 3-2. Billy McDonald put away a Thomas Stokes rebound to put the Raiders up 1-0 early in the second. They went up again 2-1 late in the second on a goal from Michael Eichstedt. However Burlington scored two goals in the third to steal a victory from the Raiders. The team then went on to play in a tournament in Orangeville. In their first game they JR. Back in league action the Raiders launched a 26 shot attack on Woolwich for a6-1 victory. McDonald opened the scoring at 4:11 of the first period finishing a nice pass- ing play from Parsons and Walinga. They had a three goal lead within two minutes on goals by Eichstedt and Velten.
