The Fitzwhiskeys demonstrated a relentless attack throughout the tournament, but had dif- ficulty in finishing things off. The Raiders then defeated Flamboro 4-2, Scorers were Oulds, Eichstedt, Davison, and Knoepfli into the empty net. Slow start costs novice Raiders in first road trip The Major Novice Raiders made their first trip of the season to Elmira to play Woolowich. They played very strong after falling be- hind 3-0 after two periods. Woolwich was kept score- less in the third as Georget- own tried to get back into the game. Kyle Oliver and Corey Carlton scored in the third but it wasn't enough as the Raiders lost the game 3-2. Over the Christmas break the Raiders enjoyed a tour- nament in Milton. They played a strong game against the AAA Chinguacousy Blues team but couldn't find enough offense to come back in the 2-0 loss. They won their next game over a team from Welland. The follow- ing day they played the host Milton squad and were elimi- nated from the tournament with the loss. Back in regular season play the Raiders hosted the powerful Oakville team and fell behind early 4-0. Georgetown tallied two goals of their own in the sec- ond. That is as close as they would get however as they lost 5-2. The Raiders goal scorers were Sean Yogan and Kyle Oliver. Raiders pounded on weekend BY TERRY ROUSE The Georgetown Gemini It was a tough weekend for the Georgetown Raiders Jun- ior A hockey club as they were beaten 6-2 by Bramalea and then pounded 13-1 by the visiting Brampton Capi- tals. "We got a lesson on how the game should be played," said head coach and GM Rick Bince referring to his team's worst lass of the year. Brampton came in on a three game losing streak which just seemed to fuel them even more as the pep- pered the Raiders' goalies with over 70 shots and jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one period and a 10 goal lead after two, as they cruised to a 13-1 win. The night before, Raiders played the first place Bramalea Blues a lot harder than they did against Brampton. Bramlea held a 1- 0 lead after one period when Adrian Vienneau scored to tie the game in the second period. However Bramalea then went onto score the next three goals. Curtis Carr scored to bring Georgetown to within two again but that is as close as they would get as Bramalea won 6-2. Penalty killing continues to bea prob- lem for the Raiders as Bramalea went 3 for 6 with the man advantage. "At the beginning of the year we were only playing HALTON bane NO. 1 CHOICE FOR FORD TRUCKS! aan 30-40 minutes of hockey, now we are playing closer to the full 60 minutes," said Bince. "However when we do fall asleep it seems other teams are there to capitalize on our mistakes," added Bince. Bince is hoping the club can finish strong and maybe pick up a couple of wins be- fore the season is over. How- ever it won't get any easier this weekas the Raiders travel to meet powerhouse Milton. » $5,000 CASH GIVEAWAY! G> LINCOLN- -MERCURY 877-2261
