Richard Raju and Kyle Artem each banged in a goal for Acton and picked up an assist each. Scotty Monaghan contributed with a single helper. Acton's next game saw them travel to Medway in London last Friday and come home with a trouncing of 10-3 over the host team. Shawn Weatherall banged in a hat-trick, Kyle Artem and Richard Raju each whipped in a pair of goals and Jeff Newman, Paul Withers and Sandy Chapman each Lions Club gets by BP Siding 9-2 Acton I BP Siding were defeated 9-2 by Acton II Lions Club on Thursday in Atom minor Softball action. Peter Topolay bashed a triple, Joey Thompson cracked a double and Craig Lockwood batted a pair of singles for Acton II in the trouncing of Acton I. Matthew Ishoy knocked out a single to bring in BP Siding's two runs. contributed single goals for the local squad. Assists were registered by Newman, with three, Artem with a couple, Raju, Withers and Weatherall -- each with one. The team played last Monday and it was their final game of regular season. They travelled to Guelph and finished off the regular season well by humiliating their hosts 10-1. Sandy Chapman and Kyle Artem each registered a pair of goals and helped out with a couple ofassists, while Richard Raju and Thomas Wolfer each put two past the Guelph netminder. Jeff Newman banged in a goal and contributed with a pair of helpers, while Shawn Weatherall registered a goal and an assist in the pummelling. Super Sub loses 5-2 to Rockwood The Rockwood Optimists dumped Acton Super Sub 5-2 last Monday in Atom minor soccer action. With seven players missing and three players called up from the squirt division*, Acton met Rockwood to give the game their all. Good work by everyone kept Acton going, but Rockwood came out with the win. The Acton coaches credited goal-scorers Derrick Inscoe and D.J. King, who booted in Acton's second goal before the final whistle. John Field boots four in Campbell Soup win BY PAUL CHUMLEY Rockwood's Campbell's Soup blew out Acton Merit Industrial by a score of 4-0 on Wednesday in local Squirt minor soccer action. Merit Industrial got caught flat-footed and found themselves pinned down in their own end for the major part of the game. The goalie trio of Michael Grierson, Meghan Colvin and Adam Brouillard were phenomenal at stopping numerous shots on net, otherwise the tally would have grown. The hot shoes for Campbell's were all one size -- John Field had four goals. Playmakers for Campbell's were Adam Bendig, Jordan Reitkerk and Jessica Rollings. In other action, Blue Springs Flowers dumped Home Hardware 4-1. Scoring for Blue Springs were Michael Van Den Hoek, who hammered in three, and Meighan Mclntyre with the lone goal. Exceptional support from Mathew Gardner on defence and Shane Stewart in goal for Blue Springs solidified the win. Home Hardware's Shawn Meilleur banged in the single goal, while Shannon Tunney and Matthew Dayman tried to lead the team to a comeback but could not pull it off. Grand Valley H&R Block defeated Guelph OPP 3-1, also on Wednesday. H&R Block extended their defensive line to shut down Guelph OPP's offensive attacks limiting them to one goal by the ultra-consistent Monica Gordan. H&R Block's scorers chipped away at OPP's defence to score three of their own to take the win. Guelph OPP's Glenn Saunders, Mark Penner and Michael Tilson were exceptional in their game play. Double Trouble, Marauders win pair in Softball Action BY KAREN SMITH Last Monday Double Trouble won their first of two games this week by defeating Remax in Acton Ladies' Recreational Softball action. Karen Mowatt led the scoring for Double Trouble with three runs, followed closely by two runs each by Denise Scott, Marlene Jordan, Denise Robinson, Jan Howard, Cathy Vandenhoek and Jil McCullum. Mick Wood scored two runs for Remax. Double's second win was against Ballinfad on Thursday. Each team was scoreless until the fourth inning, when Kathy Dueck slammed a homer bringing in Elaine Bowman and Lois Taylor for Ballinfad. In the fifth inning Double fought back with Denise Scott, Karen Mowatt, Marlene Jordan, Denise Robinson and Janet Viljama each scoring a run to end the scoring in this game. Cindy See hit a triple in the sixth but could not score for Ballinfad. On Wednesday the Marauders won their first of two games this week against Random. Cathy Durant had an outstanding batting game with two triples and a home run. Triples were also hit by Chris Stewart, Rita Kerkmann, and Mamie Clarke. Two runs were also scored by Karen Smith and Shelly Young. Laurie Jackson and Connie Bath each scored once for Marauders. Heather Webster, Rhonda Richie and Cathy Ireland each scored a run for Random. Rita Kerkmann made a stunning sliding catch in the sixth for Marauders. Marauders' second win was against Red Hots on Thursday. Once again Cathy Durant's bat was hot as she slammed another home run and crossed home plate twice. Teresa Uiterwyk also slammed a homer and scored three times. Penny Harris hit two triples and scored four runs. Chris Stewart hit a triple and scored three runs. Trudy Harris hit a double and crossed home plate three times for the Red Hots. Joyce Mclsaac slammed a home run, as did Kim Duque. Elaine Rego pounded a triple in the seventh and Kim Duque hit a double as well as pitched a good, but losing, game. Hitting for Acton Red were Shawn Hopkins with a pair of singles and Joey Price with one single. On Wednesday the teams faced each other again and the outcome was much the same, with Acton Legion Branch 197 taking the win 4-2. Robert Turpin bashed another home run in this battle, while Darrin Reid cranked a triple and Kevin Moreland knocked out a single for Branch 197. Contributing to Acton Red's pair of runs were Derek Tribe with a couple of triples and Cory Lindsay with two singles. Halton Hills Electric loses heartbreaker BY DOUG BOYKO Halton Hills Electric fought Limehouse in a seesaw battle on Thursday in Squirt minorsoftball action but could not come out on top, losing by a 16-15 margin. Limehouse took an early four-run lead with runs by Adam MacKenzie, Brian McAnsh, Derek Nolan and Richard Anthony. Halton Hills Electric battled back in the bottom of the first inning and tied the game. Kevin Dick, Derek Lockerbie, Mike Fowler and Corey Brock scored for Halton Hills Electric. Through the middle innings both teams piled up the runs and by the sixth inning it was Limehouse on top 16-10. In the final inning, Halton Hills Electric scored five quick runs but were retired one run short of tying the game.
