On Tuesday, Four Seasons edged Marauders by a count of 8-7. Linda Robson was Seasons' top scorer with two runs including a triple. Chris Kim also hit a triple. For Marauders, Chris Stewart hit a triple and scored twice, while Teresa Uiterwyk scored on a triple. On Wednesday, Panthers ate up Random by a 17-1 score. Rhonda Ritchie counted Random's lone run. Dianne Clark slammed a homer, two doubles A&S Engraving, Rene's Flowers tie A&S Engraving and Rene's Flowers battled to a 10-10 draw last Tuesday evening (Aug. 4) in local T-Ball action. Outstanding players for A&S were Corey Grace and Rachel McKnight, while Tim Pembelton and Shawn Richard had big games for Rene's. and a single to score four runs. Bev Smith hit a triple, a double and two singles and also counted four. Nancy Oakley and Lia Henttonen each crossed the plate three times. Thursday the 13th proved lucky for Marauders as they pulled ahead in the fourth and maintained the lead to defeat Nonna 's Pizza 15-6. Karen Smith, Penny Harris, Laurie Jackson, Susan Poulsen and Trudy Harris each scored two and both Penny Harris and Uiterwyk pounded triples for the Marauders. Janet Viljama was Nonna's top scorer with two runs including a triple. Marlene Jordan pitched for Nonna's while Penny Harris was on the mound for the Marauders. The first game of the tournament saw the local squad facing Whitby, losing a close one by a final score of 7-6. Scoring a hat-trick for the Acton side was Mathew Wolfer, followed by Adam Lindsay, Jason Charland and Nicholas Mastro, each with one. Assists were registered by Justin Cole, John Newby, Nicholas Crone, Colin Sheehan and Meghann Williams. The Rams went up against Scarborough in their second contest and came out victorious by a 9-6 margin. Mathew Wolfer led the team again with four goals, followed by Steve Atkinson with a pair and Tyler Prue and Adam Lindsay each with a lone goal. Meghann Williams, Nicholas Crone, Lindsay and Atkinson each contributed assists in the win. In their third match-up of the tourney, Acton pummelled Pelham by a final score of 11-3. Adam Lindsay led the team this time with four goals and three assists, while Tyler Prue, Steve Atkinson and Mathew Wolfer each pocketed a pair. Stef McDonnell contributed with a lone goal and assist in the big win. Justin Cole, John Newby, Nicholas Crone, Colin Sheehan, McDonald each registered helpers. Acton's final game of the tourney was the "D" division final against Bolton-Caledon. Unfortunately the Rams could not come up with enough goals to win this game and had to bow out to Bolton 6-5 in the second overtime period. The local Tykes came up with a big effort but penalties cost them dearly. The winning marker was actually scored witha pair of Acton players in the penalty box. Mathew Wolfer and Andrew Pembleton each put two past the Bolton netminder and Tyler Prue added one more, but it was not enough. Assists were registered by Steve Atkinson, Michael Meghann Williams and Michael McDonald and Adam Lindsay. Roadrunners clinch top spot with 3-1 win The Limehouse Limelighters defeated the Warriors 9-2 in local men's Softball league action last Tuesday in Limehouse. Al Scott pitched a strong game for the winners, giving up only one hit through the first four innings and facing only 25 batters through seven innings. Scoring two each for Limehouse were Ted Fendley, Al Scott and Glenn Scott. Georgetown Rent-All defeated Andy's Haulage 7-4 in Wednesday action. Georgetown trailed 3-0 after three but, aided by errors, they scored six in the fourth to win. Relief pitcher Jeff Haines gave up only one run during his two innings, while Glen Fendley homered for Georgetown in the fifth. On Friday, Mike Manes and Tbitman's Girls defeat Caledon, Milton Tuitman's Garden Centre and Landscaping Under-16 girls minor soccer team were busy this week with a pair of out-of-town games. The girls' first game of the week was in Caledon on Tuesday night and Acton kept their winning streak alive by shutting out the home squad 3-0. Scoring for Tuitmans were Karolyn Kinnon, Tammy Allan and Jenny Goy. On Thursday night in Milton even the mosquitoes had disappeared due to the very frigid temperature, but the cold kept both teams moving and it was a fast paced game which ended with Acton once again the victors, this time by a count of 6-4. Karolyn Kinnon started the scoring for Acton, with Eileen Campbell finding the back of the net twice. One goal each went to Lori Allan, Jenny Goy and Jenny Vidler. Acton Super Sub edges Hillsburgh 7-5 After a week-long break, Su-perSubwasbackonthe field, this time in Hillsburgh, to come away with a 7-5 win last Tuesday in Atom minor soccer action. An outstanding game was played by Joel Petkoff, who demonstrated superb ball control and passing work. Also coming up with big games for the local side were D.J. King, Cameron Sisnett and Bobby Parent. Dick Spear combined pitching skills to lead Andy's to a 5-3 win over Erin A's. Spear went two for three at the plate with a homer, while Manes went three for three. Erin's Dale Braiden hit a two-run homer in the first but the A's could not hold the lead. Sunday action saw Andy's Haulage battle to a 5-5 draw with Limehouse. Limehouse scored five runs in their last at-bat to earn a tie, leaving a runner at third base. Andy's continued their heavy schedule of matches with a 6-1 win over the Erin A's in the second game of their double-header. Inspired pitching by Mike Manes and Dick Spear carried Andy's to the win in this game. Scott Lindsay led the offense by going three for three and scoring twice. The Erin A's got by the Ballinafad Blue Jays 11-8 in other Sunday action. Erin bounced back to win the second game of their double-header, with eight of their nine starters each contributing a run. Finally, the league-leading Acton Roadrunners shaded the Warriors 3-1 on Sunday. Acton clinched first place with this win. League Standings Team W L T Pts.
