20 THE NEW TANNER THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2003 With the opening September 13th of the newest Giant Tiger * store, residents will be treated to a totally new fashion shopping experience. President of all Canadian owned Giant Tiger, Jeff York has this to say about the success of Giant Tiger's fash- ion clothing business. "Our philosophy for fashion clothing is to keep our inventory fresh and new for our customers." said Jeff York, "Giant Tiger fashion shop- pers regularly prowl the aisles pouncing on bargains. They shop early in the season, when the selection of seasonal merchandise is at its best, but visit their favourite store often, knowing that new shipments arrive daily. Some of our customers visit the stores two or three times a week." said Jeff, "Some come every day. It's like a Treasure Hunt -- that's what our cus- tomers have told us." "Giant Tiger is always in fashion," says Alec Boyd, Giant Tiger store manager. "We carry infants' wear right up to men's and ladies'. We know what customers want. There's a good reason why Giant Tiger can focus on the most current fashions. We really differ from other retailers in that our fashion buying office is in the heart of Montreal, Canada's fashion capital. Our buyers are in contact with suppliers daily and have a pulse-on what's in and what's new. Plus, as each store controls the merchandise they buy, our new Acton store team will choose the items that our customers want." he added. "We have fantastic prices on the latest fashions," says Holly Mitchell. "It's all up to date; the latest trends, styles, and colours but up to 50 per cent off mall store prices. There's something for every member of the family. We even have the 'cool stuff' that today's teens want." GIANT TIGER YOUR AFFORDABLE FASHION DESTINATION Of course, that is not the only thing Giant Tiger carries. Shelley Thurston calls it a one-stop shop, with milk and bread, frozen food, groceries, linens, household needs, toys, and seasonal items. "There is a big focus on seasonal events like Halloween at Giant Tiger stores. They are so much fun," says Shelley. "Our customers are our neighbours so we want to do things right," explains Bob Armstrong. All the new team members are right from the Acton area and are very familiar with what folks want to see in their store. "I'm really looking forward to seeing the reaction to the great deals on the faces of my friends and neighbours," says Barb Durham. "The new store is bright and clean and a fun and friendly shopping experience. The whole community is just buzzing", she said. "You can feel it." Giant Tiger has been around since 1961. The Ottawa based chain recently celebrated the opening of its 125th store. "We're proud to be an all-Canadian family discount store and we have continued to grow and prosper because we offer real value to our customers," explains Alec. Alec Boyd and his team invite everyone to the Grand Opening Celebration this weekend. It's going to be a fun filled day with plenty of activities and a fundraiser for Halton Hills Community Support and Information. "We're looking forward to meeting everyone." said Alec.
